Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.
Venture Global LNG is seeking a Production Measurement Specialist to join the Integrated Production Excellence Team based in Cameron, LA with as needed travel to support the Venture Global LNG sites.
Instrumentation is an important aspect of LNG systems, as it allows operators to monitor and control processes in real time, ensuring that they are operating efficiently and safely. The use of instrumentation can help improve productivity, reduce costs, and improve the quality of products.
The Production Measurement Specialist will be required to Inspect and calibrate measurement instrumentation for the Calcasieu Pass LNG facility and other facilities when required and deliver the following objectives:
- Collaborate with Measurement Engineers on equipment and station design, upgrades, diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electronic devices, instrumentation, and process control equipment.
- Work with Measurement Engineers to make sure all meters and measurements operate to the required design / uncertainty.
- Ensure accurate measurement:
- All meters are calibrated and inspected on a regular basis.
- All measurements are healthy and operate within design range and uncertainty.
- Ensure that the meters operational and maintenance procedures are documented and fit for purpose.
- Ensure that measurement Instrumentation is working correctly and accuracy. This would include but not lamented to:
- Sensors: Sensors are devices that detect changes in physical quantities such as temperature, pressure, or motion, and convert these changes into electrical signals that can be measured and monitored. Examples of sensors include thermocouples, pressure transducers, and accelerometers.
- Transmitters: Transmitters are devices that receive signals from sensors and transmit them over long distances using electrical or wireless signals. Transmitters are used to transmit signals from sensors located in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas to remote locations where they can be monitored and analyzed.
- Control valves: Control valves are used to regulate the flow of fluids such as gases, liquids, and slurries. They are typically used in conjunction with control systems to maintain a desired process variable, such as temperature or pressure.
- Actuators: Actuators are devices that convert electrical signals into mechanical motion. They are used to operate control valves, dampers, and other types of mechanical equipment.
- Displays and indicators: Displays and indicators are used to visually display process variables and provide alerts or alarms when certain conditions are met. Examples include digital displays, LED indicators, and alarm bells.
- Data acquisition and recording systems: Data acquisition and recording systems are used to collect, store, and analyze data from sensors and transmitters. These systems can be used to monitor and optimize the performance of processes and equipment.
- Ensure maximum Reliability of the metering and measurements system.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with existing systems.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Providing training and guidance to less experienced staff.
- Collaborate with Measurement Engineers to maintain an accurate production and pipeline surveillance and monitoring system to support Real time Surveillance and Optimization
- Support the field with installation, startup, and troubleshooting of field electronic and process control equipment, communication equipment, and management of process data into existing SCADA and other data software systems.
- Ensures process data is accurately collected and reliably communicated to company SCADA and billing systems.
- Researches and provides recommendations on field electronics, process control, data acquisition, and communications equipment.
- Interfaces frequently with the field Operations, Engineering, Local Engineering, and equipment vendors.
- Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard work practices and procedures.
- Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of metering systems, calibration records, maintenance logs, and relevant operational procedures. Ensure records are up-to-date and accessible for audits or reporting purposes.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications:
Proficient knowledge and application of remote terminal units (RTU), process control systems (PLC), data acquisition and communication equipment, Human Machine Interface (HMI) integration software, field electronics installation, calibration, multimeter, HART Communicator, mA loop calibrator, thermocouple calibrator, RTD calibrator, multifunction process calibrator, vacuum and pressure calibrator, Hand Operated vacuum and pressure pump, decade resistance box, etc.
- Technical Authority with 5 to 10 years working on instrumentation, measurements and metering with a demonstrated track record of managing Metering and Measurements Management Systems.
- Oil and Gas experience is required, with strong preference to LNG, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability in managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Planning, organizational, and/or project management skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, which include technical writing.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and standard practices.
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Strong trouble shooting experience and ability with process control equipment, field electronic devices and communication equipment.
- Ability to provide training or instruction to less experienced colleagues.
- Independently able to plan, organize, and/or manage projects.
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
