We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Manager, GIS (Geographic Information System) located in Houston, Texas. This position will report to a Senior Project Manager, Pipelines.

General Description:

The Manager, GIS will perform developing, updating, analyzing, and managing GIS data for a wide variety of professional services. The Manager, GIS is responsible for preparation of monthly reports documenting the GIS system health, project status, and support issues and provide employee training and workshops for general desktop GIS skills. The Manager will work with IT and GIS system users to solve complex, advanced issues. This role works with IT Management and internal stakeholders to develop and implement GIS systems and strategies to achieve business objectives. This role will advance Venture Global LNG’s use of GIS field data collection, system implementation and incorporation of mobile applications.   

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze GIS data and mapping for Engineering and Project Teams. 
  • Develop and review GIS mapping and data collection tasks. 
  • Utilize various software packages and information from various sources to create GIS maps to support field personnel as well as for deliverables. 
  • Perform digital feature extraction from multiple data sources. 
  • Create and update new and existing GIS maps and map layers and GPS data edition and representation using ArcGIS in support of field surveys. 
  • Support GIS metadata creation. 
  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Pipeline Open Data System and GIS System topics. 
  • Develop and manage the process for loading pipeline data into GIS/PODS, including engineered maps, engineering records, landowner’s information along pipeline right-of-way (ROW), identification of DOT regulated and non-regulated pipeline segments, patrol reports, close interval surveys, annual surveys, depth of cover information, State One Call data and other records as necessary.
  • Identify pipeline segments within High Consequence Areas and Unusually Sensitive Areas and prepare annual DOT/PHMSA required reports and map updates.
  • Research and resolve issues with missing or inaccurate information. 
  • Develop effective GIS System protocols for projects. 
  • Conduct additional GIS System analysis as needed. 
  • Other related duties, as assigned. 

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in GIS, Geography, environmental science or closely related field. Applicable years of experience may be applied for degree requirement. 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 12 or more years of experience in a combination of the following: 
    1. GIS data entry, 
    2. GIS operations/maintenance, 
    3. Pipeline operations, 
    4. Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) system operations. 
  • Experience working in ArcGIS desktop and online environment. 
  • PODS experience preferred. 
  • Pipeline construction and operations or energy knowledge preferred. 

Skills: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
