Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

We are seeking a highly experienced and deeply effective senior leader to join us as Operations Director, Power. The candidate is responsible for management of the safe and efficient world-class operation of Calcasieu Pass 2 plant to meet customers’ delivery and quality requirements, alongside fully complying with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. 

 The CP2 LNG facility will be a natural gas liquefaction export terminal with a nameplate export capacity of 20 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG and a peak capacity of approximately 24 MTPA. The facility will include 18 LNG blocks to liquefy domestically produced natural gas received from the new CP Express pipeline and four full containment LNG storage tanks to allow for the storage and delivery of LNG as needed to LNG carriers for export. There will be two marine loading docks for LNG carriers to berth at the facility and on-site power generation.

 

 Responsibilities:

  • Optimizes the availability and reliability of the power island. 
  • Checks that annual, quarterly, and monthly performance matches the agreed program.
  • Ensures daily operations meet production targets in view of quantity and quality specified. 
  • Ensures that the power island is operated to appropriate efficiency standards.
  • Collaborates with other directors to contribute to the overall targets.
  • Introduces and ensures adherence to technical, financial, personnel and administrative policies, procedures and controls. 
  • Prepares the annual budget and put controls in place for the expenditure. 
  • Prepares regular reports on operational as well as quality, health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Recruits staff and monitors the training and development programs for staff to form highly qualified teams in order to undertake the various activities of the Company.
  • Ensures operators are fully trained and competent to start-up and operate the power island.  Continuously identifies need for job instruction, retraining and development of operations staff.
  • Oversees the strategic and day to day direction for Field Operations
  • Works closely with multiple stakeholders across VG’s organization, including C-suite management & functional disciplines across all assets.  
  • Advises the management team on key O&M risks & issues, and mitigation plans.
  • Maintains the Company as an industry leader in the South Louisiana area and the US LNG industry.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of combined cycle power plant experience in operations with at least 5 years of experience in a similar position of responsibility and expertise in an operating LNG liquefaction facility of similar magnitude and design.
  • Broad knowledge of budgeting, planning, scheduling
  • High level of HSE knowledge
  • Strong personnel management, interpersonal skills, communications & organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills & analytical skills
  • Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) preferred.
  • Ability to assist in development of employee training programs and their evaluations.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and direction, aligned with business goals, with strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
  • Ability to build relationships and engage with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Experience leading teams in the development of training programs and manual creation.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate teams and maximize the value of people.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills across multiple employee levels and outside stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Emergency Response management.
