We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Capital Projects, Project Lead

Location: Venture Global Calcasieu Pass Liquefied Natural Gas (PLNG) facility in Cameron, Louisiana

General Description: 

The Capital Projects Project Lead reports to the Director of Capital Projects and will assist in the to coordinate the execution of all front-end engineering projects through a stage gate process within the Brownfields Project Team and facilitate communication between the Company Stakeholders through Project Initiation, feasibility, define, and execution phases through to handover

Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitate/coordinate the front-end engineering and execution/handover process for the Brownfields Stage Gate Process for Calcasieu Pass (CP) LNG Plant to deliver the most optimum schedule and budget outcomes as well as satisfy the Company’s technical performance and integrity requirements
  • Experience in Plant Operations required
  • Turnaround experience required
  • Develop and optimize the Brownfields Stage Gate Process for CP2
  • Ensure Senior management are kept fully informed of all key risks and issues
  • Monitor/coordinate performance of Company Stakeholders and ensure technical integrity of contractors and service providers
  • Assist with the preparation and/or review of key approvals e.g., scopes of works and proposals, feasibility studies, contract strategies for engineering engagement, project change requests (MOC), awards and variations
  • Ensure the engineering/project undertakes adequate quality assurance for internal deliverables
  • Responsible for assisting coordination to all stakeholders and vendor personnel allocated to the individual projects and ensure that the safe progress of the works proceeds according to the overall schedules and achieve the objectives of the company
  • Expected to perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by VG.  May be required to carry out such other instructions and directions as VG may from time to time reasonably and lawfully give to you

People Management

  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of direct reports as allocated throughout the project
  • Must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

 Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)

  • Responsible for the safety on site of team members reporting into this role by ensuring that corporate and local Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and regulations are applied on project activities

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience in Plant Operations required
  • Turnaround experience required
  • Brownfield experience required
  • Experience of project control systems and procedures supported by current software applications e.g., Excel, MS Project, Risk Management and Planning Software systems
  • Technical professional with proven experience in engineering and execution disciplines and delivery of projects
  • Varied experience of engineering, pre-engineering approvals, EPC or EPCM contracts
  • Able to apply appropriate technical standards to deliver technical and execution requirements
  • Understanding of discipline interfaces, execution activities and the project development and delivery process needed to enable quality control of Project Teams technical work, and ensure appropriate techniques and standards are applied and improvement opportunities are realized
  • Verifiable performance and delivery working as a team member through two or more responsible project assignments
  • Interact with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Awareness of VG’s (or equivalent) functional project and technical assurance processes
  • Contributes to improve parts of projects e.g., initiate a change to a project specification/procedure
  • Coordinates the preparation of changes in lines with the MOC (Management of Change) procedure
  • Able to apply HSSE principles across all project’s technical activities
  • Understands the impact of strategic considerations on business decisions and has contributed to negotiations with contractors
  • Understands the impact of strategic considerations on business decisions and project execution
  • Able to travel up to 65%
  • Client-side experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer license preferred 
  • Good team player with a pro-active and flexible attitude
  • Good communicator able to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate successfully to achieve positive outcome
