Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital costs.

We are seeking a Health and Safety Technician to join our team at our Pointe Celeste, LA Facility.

This role shall report to the Venture Global LNG Health & Safety Manager. This position will be tasked with establishing and maintaining a “Boots on the ground” mentality to ensure that Health & Safety fundamentals are being utilized in the field. It will also serve as the immediate contact person in the field for all Health & Safety related questions, concerns or activities.

This position will be located in Point Celeste, LA. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, implement, and manage Venture Global LNG’s safety policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and requirements
  • Continuously inspect, observe, and audit the application of work tasks against our defined company procedures, policies, and conditions of the working environments
  • Establish and maintain themselves as the focal point in the field for all Health & Safety related questions, concerns, activities and/or needs.
  • Spend extended periods of time in the field walking throughout the assigned area(s), climb stairs/ladders as needed to elevated work areas
  • Ensure that hazard assessments and permitting requirements are being followed
  • Engage workers in the field that are performing tasks unsafely and mentor them in the correct measures or practices to ensure that they are working with a safety-first mentality. Utilize a mentoring or educational approach when interacting with all personnel
  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments to support Health and Safety management of the facility
  • Monitor all contractor activities to ensure safe work techniques and compliance to Venture Global LNG’s polices and procedures
  • Possess the ability to multi-task effectively
  • Enforce a zero-tolerance policy
  • Control all unsafe conditions, hazards, and/or scenes when possible
  • Conduct daily safety inspections, observations, and audits to ensure all unsafe acts and conditions are immediately addressed
  • Perform facility audits, observations, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental, safety, and occupational hazards and weaknesses to promote effective practices and ensure compliance and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies, or process improvement
  • Inform HSSE leadership about the results of safety inspections, observations, and audits as well as any observed deficiencies and means of mitigation
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or events immediately to Shift Supervision and Health and Safety Manager. Aid and assist in the accident and incident investigation process as needed
  • Participate in incident investigations to guide the identification of root causes and effective corrective actions
  • Assist and support Emergency Response processes for the site
  • Inspect, control, and enforce effective and timely housekeeping standards
  • Participate as a member of the Site Safety Committee
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • H.S. Education or Equivalent required. Degree and/or certification in Health & Safety Sciences or related field strongly preferred
  • Must have specific experience with Health & Safety in Commissioning and Startup activities
  • Fully understand and have experience with Permit to Work process and systems, the expectation to audit and advise using a mentoring approach to valid discrepancies and to provide safe and effective paths of resolution
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated by five (5) or more years in a Health & Safety Technician role
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in Health and Safety Technician or Specialist position having previous LNG, Petrochemical or Oil and Gas manufacturing industry a plus
  • Completion of OSHA general industry (CFR 29-1910) and/or construction (CFR29-1926)
  • Occupational Health and Safety knowledge , experience, or education related to job site hazard recognition safety inspection/audits for permit to work, hazardous energy isolation, hot-work (metal welding-grinding-thermal cutting), confined space entry, elevated work/fall protection, housekeeping, and crane hoisting and rigging
  • Experience in Health and Safety policies, procedures, and standards in Industrial operations, natural gas operations, or liquefaction facilities, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience is a plus
  • Any of the following certifications (not required but a plus): OSHA 500, OSHA 510, CSP, CHST, LSP, OHST, ASP Preferred CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
  • Eligible to work in the US, pass a drug test and background check with criminal history
  • TWIC Required (Current owner or have the ability to obtain)
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written formats
  • Must be able to work off shifts and overtime
