Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

We are looking for a Manager, Indirect Taxes to join our Accounting & Tax department. This position will be located in Arlington, Virginia or Houston, Texas and will be responsible for assisting in indirect tax compliance, tax research, indirect tax audits, and tax planning for our domestic and foreign operations. The position will report to the Director, Tax and work closely with our external tax advisors to carry out the responsibilities described below:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage external tax consultants and act as liaison with management
  • Manage and/or review all sales and use tax returns, payments and accruals; coordinate with external tax consultants, procurement, accounts payable, and other functions as appropriate
  • Provide necessary technical insight by performing and coordinating research and assessment of tax impacts of new rules and/or interpretations and financial implications of new or proposed transactions
  • Provide day to day tactical guidance to operations on indirect tax issues including classifications, exemptions, and systems
  • Support FP&A department with budgeting and forecasting efforts related to indirect taxes
  • Develop, implement and maintain indirect tax policies and procedures; identify opportunities to improve and/or automate processes to increase quality and efficiency
  • Prepare information for financial statements and regulatory filings related to indirect taxes
  • Manage necessary filings for tax registrations and exemptions in states and jurisdictions as needed
  • Support technical research and analysis for business and tax planning projects that optimize cash taxes on company investments
  • Stay abreast of changes to various indirect tax laws and/or interpretations and manage impacts to company’s tax profile
  • Manage, review, and respond to audits, reviews and inquiries related to indirect tax matters
  • Manage property taxes, including filings, payments, inquiries, etc.
  • Manage state and local tax incentive programs in coordination with external tax consultants
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years tax experience in Big 4 public accounting firm, corporate tax department of multinational company, or combination thereof
  • Master’s degree in an accounting discipline preferred
  • Fundamental awareness combined with practical experience that supports an advanced understanding of concepts regarding indirect tax laws and accounting practices and procedures
  • Pro-active problem solving mindset to achieve business and tax objectives
  • Strong work ethic and comfortability working with evolving priorities
  • Able to operate effectively and efficiently in a deadline-driven fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong Excel knowledge with a drive to automate processes
  • Familiarity with SAP and Coupa is a plus
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential material
