What the job is

As a Senior Software Engineer at Veniam, you will develop high-performance embedded software that integrates the Veniam Platform. You will work closely with the whole engineering team on the full life-cycle of the embedded software development, including requirements definition/review, technical approach assessment and implementation, software development, and software quality and its operations. You will also interact with the remaining stakeholders of the company, including customers, partners, and colleagues. Your work deliverables will be part of the platform that enables thousands of globally distributed devices to move massive amounts of data between them and the Cloud with the utmost quality and security. 

Moreover, as a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the mentorship and coaching of Veniam talent by leading work through experience and establishing a safe space that promotes personal and technical growth.


What you’ll be responsible for

  • Development of high-performance, secure, low-latency software on top of Linux-based operating systems that will run in different hardware platforms and reference architectures
  • Mentoring of other developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
  • Translation of customer and internal requirements into technically attainable efforts
  • Coordination of work with the engineering teams to address complex technical challenges while delivering clean, stable, and production-ready solutions
  • Assessment of the feasibility of porting the Veniam embedded software stack to other hardware platforms and operating systems
  • Design and maintenance of key parts of the in-vehicle software architecture


What you’ll need

Technical skills

  • 5+ years of experience in developing and maintaining embedded Linux systems
  • In-depth experience with C programming (C99 preferred)
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (such as Python)
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience with POSIX threading mechanisms
  • Good understanding of the IP stack and TCP/UDP networking
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent is valued

People skills

  • Willingness and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to keep up with technological advancements
  • Readiness to think and act strategically and proactively
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring other team members

Bonus points

  • Proven experience in technical leadership and architecture decisions
  • Familiarity with embedded application development for Android OS
  • Experience with Linux kernel development and troubleshooting
