Vendr is a fast-moving startup building a free platform that finance and procurement leaders can turn to when looking to control their SaaS costs. As the ideal candidate, you are responsible for transforming traditionally cumbersome and opaque procurement processes into an inviting, engaging, and cool (yes, cool) experience. You understand the inherent challenges in procurement and want to change market perceptions of procurement as a necessary evil to one that can be quick, easy, and ultimately delightful—all while helping save on the bottom line.

As the product leader for our Procurement team, you will be directly responsible for driving the strategic direction and implementation of our Procurement SKU, from awareness through monetization. You’ll be ensuring that customers can get ahead of spend, enforce policy, gain efficiency through automation, enhance visibility and control, and help organization to intuitively represent even the most complex business processes.

The Staff Product Manager reports to the Director of Product.


Responsibilities

  • Procurement Strategy: Understand our market, customer problems, the competitive landscape, and the gaps in our product experience. Connect corporate strategy to product objectives that solve real customer problems.
  • Customer Obsession: Consistently talk to customers and prospects directly to keep a pulse on product sentiment, problems, and gaps. Use your close relationship with customers to identify, prioritize, and deliver new features that both solve their problems and solve for the business.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Regularly sync with engineering, design, and research partners along with other key stakeholders across the organization to understand cross-functional strategy, discover blockers, manage quality, and ensure effective prioritization and delivery.
  • Drive Impact: Ensure you understand customer pain points and create product experiences that solve customer’s problems while driving revenue. Make the most effective decisions possible when prioritizing so that new functionality delivers measurable customer and business impact.
  • Product Measures: Help define and manage key performance indicators for your functional area. Work with the data team to create analytics dashboards that measure your progress. Support the creation and execution of OKRs and report back measurable impact.
  • Roadmap Development: Produce an objective-aligned roadmap that can be vetted by executive management and shared with the entire company on a quarterly basis. Clarify dependencies across teams and the impact they may have on delivery timelines.
  • Feature Prioritization: Provide an evidence-based backlog of customer problems framed by Jobs to Be Done, combining customer impact scores, retention, objectives, confidence levels, and revenue.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure that you are well-integrated into the established product process, following our standards with a high attention to detail. Advocate for changes that help PMs, engineers, and UX work together to efficiently deliver an exceptional experience.
  • Product Expertise: Establish and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Vendr’s entire platform in order to identify, propose, and make product improvements. Be capable of expertly providing product demonstrations to customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in product management with at least 4 focused on launching successful B2B SaaS products to customers.
  • Domain expertise of best in class SaaS procurement processes and workflows tools are a huge plus.
  • Startup experience with a proven track record of delivering successful products in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
  • Experience utilizing the Jobs to Be Done framework, writing PRDs, and leveraging Productboard (or equivalent) for advanced prioritization modeling.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Deep desire and ability to deliver exceptional product experiences. You have tight relationships with designers, understand the user journey, and can help support, promote, and evaluate great UX. Design and research experience is a huge plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Candidates who have prior in-depth experience/expertise with procurement and accounting processes as well as familiarity with every stage of the procurement process, from RFPs to PO generation will be prioritized. This is not a requirement, but a nice to have.
