Reporting to the Sr. VP of Sales and as part of the Velodyne commercial leadership team, this high-profile role is responsible for all direct and indirect sales for the APAC region. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving a winning strategy for this high growth region, with major focus on the Automotive, Autonomous Vehicle, Industrial/Robotics and Smart Infrastructure markets.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver long term YoY profitable growth for the APAC region, via strong local leadership, execution of compelling sales strategies and careful management of sales budgets
  • Meet or exceed yearly operating plan financial and development objectives for the region
  • Meet or exceed quarterly revenue guidance for region with a high degree of forecasting fidelity
  • Drive the expansion of market share within APAC by increasing the number of customers and signed multi-year agreements
  • Hire, mentor and develop a top performing direct sales team and channel distribution network
  • Grow the opportunity funnel by identifying, progressing, and converting a strong pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Drive RFI/RFP & pricing process for regional customers, providing strategic guidance on how to maximize value for Velodyne
  • Build deep ‘C-level’ customer relationships at large OEM customers, thus increasing Velodyne visibility, influence and share of wallet.
  • Improve customer satisfaction, by clear communication of ‘voice of the customer’, then by securing necessary support from all relevant Velodyne stakeholders
  • Leverage solution selling techniques to win against competitors and improve overall sales margins
  • Provide guidance to marketing team on future customer needs and product requirements
  • Develop a deep understanding of regional markets, and partner with marketing to provide local thought leadership and support for conferences, seminars, tradeshows, and other media events
  • Attend and present compelling regional business updates at QBR and other management meetings
  • Act as local Managing Director for Germany legal entity as appropriate

Specific Job Requirements:

  • 15+ years’ experience in increasingly senior sales leadership roles, with a proven ability to develop and implement winning sales growth strategies
  • Deep understanding of APAC customers in one or more of Velodyne core markets
  • Successful track record of closing $50M+ complex deals at large OEM accounts
  • Proven ability to hire, mentor and lead winning sales teams
  • Demonstrated success in complex, international, fast-paced competitive environments
    Strong presentation, sales, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience in combined hardware - software sales processes
  • Excellent local language and English oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel around 40% of time
  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering discipline required, with MBA preferred
  • Working knowledge of key CRM and sales processes
