Position Overview
Our client, the human-centered design organization of a global mobility player, is looking for an Interaction Design Lead (IXDL). The IXDL is a design thinker who is passionate about designing innovative and elegant UX solutions, based on a deep understanding of users’ needs and wants. He/she/they will push the boundaries of technology to design new mobility UX, establishing and envisioning seamless interaction models with universal value. The IXDL will design, prototype, and launch mobility experiences that bind together systems of physical products, digital services, and human interactions. He/she/they will actively participate in research and synthesis and work to identify unique pain points and unmet needs. The IXDL will establish creative frameworks informed by research to guide UX decisions. He/she/they is/are aware of new and emerging interaction models [and tracks supporting technology (AR, VR, AI, ML, gesture)] and can translate those models into branded UX, resulting in a sense of cohesion and brand integrity across a product line.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead IXD teams through the human-centered design process and set direction for all aspects of IXD project work and deliverables
  • Planscope and manage projects and teams according to business needs and design opportunities, setting teams up for success with a point-of-view on best practices
  • Balance team autonomy and guidance through harmonious collaboration and team engagement
  • Conceive, design, develop, test, and launch new product and service experiences, applying systems thinking to experiences that engage people in meaningful ways
  • Help elicit user pain points and latent desires, as well as design opportunities, during human-centered design research, grounding ideas and actionable concepts in user and business needs, design principles, and current and emerging technologies
  • Apply critical thinking to challenge the status quo and our ways of working, pushing the IXD team and the Lab at large on our definition of interaction design excellence
  • Guide and support your team in understanding and designing experiences that seamlessly integrate brand, people, space, product and service touch points along consumer and business service journeys
  • Lead the planning, design and operations of experiments of new products and services at varying levels of fidelity in alignment with learning goals and the confidence levels around problem, solution and form of implementation
  • Manage project budgets and communications with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Support talent growth and craft development of the IXD community by exploring emerging tools and processes, participating in hiring great designers and inspiring our client's philosophy and definition of IXD as a craft

Experience 
Ideally, you have worked across all customer touch points and bring experience designing interactions for both products and services that customers engage with over a complex journey. You understand and think in terms of connecting interaction design with business goals. Ultimately, you want to make an impact on customer/client experience as well as internally; inspiring IXD and other Design colleagues, while effectively and cohesively conveying its advantages to stakeholders.

Professional Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in New Media, HCI, Interaction Design, Service Design or related field, OR High School Diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience in New Media, HCI, Interaction Design, Service Design or related field
  • 5+ years of interaction design experience across a breadth of digital media
  • 2+ years of experience leading collaborative teams through human-centered interaction design processes

Additional Preferred  

  • Extensive experience with graphic, digital and motion design and prototyping tools such as Adobe CC, Sketch, Figma, and After Effects
  • Experience designing and facilitating group collaboration workshops
  • Experience working on digital products and services for consumer and business applications
  • Experience developing digital services and bringing products or services to market
  • Passionate about automotive and transportation industry
  • Strong verbal, written and visual presentation skills

Work Authorization
