The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for creating impactful, best in class data products that support data-driven decision making across the company. As part of the Data Analytics team, the Senior Data Analyst will collaborate with various departments, with Product Marketing and Marketing being the primary stakeholders, to gather requirements and will develop queries, prepare data sets, analyze data, and create visualizations that meet stakeholder needs and help address business problems.

The Senior Data Analyst represents the Data Analytics team in cross-functional projects with various departments, primarily Acquisition Marketing and Product Marketing, leading the development of data products like Tableau visualizations. These data products will help address complex business problems for various stakeholders often including those in high-level positions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder and Team Collaboration
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand business challenges and objectives, clarify stakeholder requests, define clear requirements, and explain data sets and visualizations.
    • Balance and prioritize multiple high priority requests from various stakeholders simultaneously.
    • Collaborate within Data Analytics team domain experts to learn about data sources and pull data for applicable business functions (Renewals, Sales, Marketing, etc.).
    • Work with Corporate IT for any Tableau platform assistance like mobile compatibility, user set up, etc.
  • Build and Cleanse Data Sets
    • Identify what objects and fields contain data necessary to build the data sets required for meeting business request.
    • Understand the organization’s KPIs, metrics, and data structure and ensure standardization and alignment of logic across reports and dashboards.
    • Write complex SQL scripts for creating data warehouse views, as inputs for creating data sets and Tableau extracts and for analyzing data outside the scope of dashboards.
    • Communicate data warehouse requirements (data marts, views, calculations, etc) to data engineers, clarify questions, and validate implemented solution.
    • Cleanse and validate data sets to resolve inconsistencies and errors, address data gaps, and ensure accuracy.
  • Data Visualization and Reporting
    • Translate user requirements into proof of concepts in Excel for short term agreements and build out in Tableau for long term scaling.
    • Create best-in-class interactive Tableau dashboards and visualizations with drill down capabilities that present complex data in a clear, concise, and easily digestible manner.
    • Understand data security challenges and create data products that scale accordingly (build a standard Dashboard that can be consumed at multiple levels using row level security).
  • Documentation
    • Document user requirements, data set models and logic, explanation of data set and dashboard metrics, calculations, and visuals.
    • Create and update service desk tickets to track data analytics requests including making comments to stakeholders and logging work.
  • Data Analysis
    • Leverage advanced statistical and data analysis techniques, programming languages, and tools to perform data analysis that identifies insights. Interpret the trends, patterns, and results and provide findings and recommendations that the organization can leverage to make decisions.
  • Mode of Operation
    • Operate in occasionally high-pressure environment where urgent requests require quick turnaround. Comfortable working quickly to resolve requests.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Business Administration, Finance, MIS, Analytics, or related field). 
  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence & reporting
  • Strong Understanding of data warehouse lifecycle, star schema, fact-dimension models etc.
  • 8+ years of experience with RDBMS tools like Oracle, SQL Server, Vertica, Data Bricks
  • 7+ years’ experience in business intelligence & reporting tools like Tableau
  • 7+ years’ experience creating and publishing dashboards and creating extracts
  • 4+ years’ experience of writing SQLs to generate extracts using Hyper
  • Experience with marketing, marketing automation, email, and product marketing analytics
  • Excel & PowerPoint expertise
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Prior experience working with SaaS systems like Adobe Analytics, Salesforce etc.
  • Experience in understanding end user requirements, including those from senior leadership, and translate into technical specs
  • Self-starter with ability to work with highest level of organization
