Position Overview
Help us build great software that protects our customers around the world from an ever-increasing number of cyber attacks!
As part of the Engineering team, Software Engineering Interns will work directly on Vectra's platform to build or enhance features that help solve customer problems. You'll work side-by-side with other interns and dedicated, experienced engineers as your assigned mentors. You will have ownership of a high-impact project for the length of the internship (which is typically a 12-week program, depending on your school's end and start dates).
Our goal is to create a robust and impactful learning experience that gives candidates a better feel for the day-to-day skills and challenges you will experience in a full-time software engineering team. Working in a modern software company like Vectra you can also expect to learn how to deliver software end-to-end including understanding builds, automated tests, deployments, monitoring, and alerting.
Responsibilities
To be able to work on high-impact software projects, you will need to:
- Be comfortable writing and shipping code daily
- Contribute to automated testing and other parts of end-to-end software delivery
- Work collaboratively in a team with other interns and senior engineers
- Evaluate and identify the correct approaches or technologies to use to solve problems
We will present options to interns for different impactful summer projects that align with the team's interests and skills (e.g. frontend/backend, data engineering, etc.). Please speak with us more to learn more about past projects that interns have delivered!
Qualifications
- Required
- Current student working on BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science (or similar engineering subject)
- Experience with object oriented programming and data structures
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments
- Experience with a source control system, preferably Git
- Internship is in the summer only
- Preferred
- Knowledge of networking and security fundamentals
- Understanding of databases beyond basic queries and interaction
- Experience with REST APIs
- Performance tuning skills
