Vay are now operating a safe, affordable, and sustainable door-to-door mobility service in the Las Vegas, US and will soon begin scaling to other locations in the USA, Europe & beyond. Our Vay Drive service is a driverless delivered, by the minute car rental service, creating an exciting, safe & affordable experience for all.

The role:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Operational Safety Engineer. As a key member of the Operational Safety team, you will collaborate closely with both the operations and engineering teams. Based in our commercial operations office in Las Vegas, you will play a crucial role in ensuring operational safety by overseeing safety procedures and serving as the on-site safety expert. Additionally, you will conduct first-level investigations to maintain the highest safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring operational safety procedures and rules are followed and continuously improved
  • Investigation and Triaging of Incidents of Vay’s daily operations
  • Maintain organized records and documentation of findings.
  • Review and optimize safety processes to support fleet scaling efforts.

The profile:

Must have

  • Structured approach to problem-solving and highly organized working model.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking to address safety concerns.
  • Standing to promote a safety-first culture
  • Attention to detail for identifying risks and ensuring compliance.
  • Willingness to work fully on-site

Nice to have 

  • Experience in software development (SQL, C/C++ and Python)
  • Experience in operational safety / safety engineering in any industry (doesn't need to be automotive)
  • Hands-on experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
  • Competency in data analysis tools or platforms for evaluating incidents and safety trends (e.g., Power BI, or Superset).
