Manager, Software Engineering
UtilityAPI’s software engineers power the SaaS platform that allows us to bridge the data gap between renewable energy companies and their customers. Utility data is a necessary part of the energy transition and a critical need for multiple sectors of the economy. The software we write addresses a unique need in a complex problem space, and we are looking for an empathetic, creative, and ambitious mission-driven leader to guide our teams in building the next generation of our platform.
In this role, you will manage the engineering team responsible for scoping, building, and maintaining our utility integrations product (UDX). This team works closely with utility customers to build a product their customers can use to authorize and share data with renewable energy companies. We are expecting significant growth in this segment as customers and companies expect a modern, seamless integration experience. It will be essential to guide the engineering team through the challenge of integrating more utility partners while improving our product, its stability, and maintainability.
What You’ll Do:
- Act as the people leader of the UDX team, managing 4-7 software engineers
- Set, track, and give feedback on individual and team goals through the use of internal frameworks and through regular 1-1 meetings with direct reports
- Collaborate with product management, product management, and engineering management to ensure the team is enabled to achieve the company goals
- Foster a spirit of collaboration and continuous improvement
Your Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 1 year acting as management or leadership
- Strong collaborative skills and experience working closely with and forming strong partnerships with product management and customer-facing teams
- Experience building processes that allow teams to work efficiently and optimally
- Experience setting goals for direct reports and motivating engineers to hit those goals
- Experience guiding teams through modernization of code
- Nice to have: some experience working on software projects governed by contracts

Compensation:
The estimated annual base salary range for this role is:
$140,000 - $165,000
