We're looking for a Transportation Manager to lead and manage the activities associated with the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of UrbanStems' US inbound and outbound delivery operations, supporting the EVP of Operations. This position will actively manage the day to day as well as the strategic activities relating to the movement of all UrbanStems inbound and outbound shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage all domestic delivery operations 
  • Train and mentor the Head of Courier Operations and the Manhattan Same Day Courier Manager
  • Manage departmental and cross-functional budgetary goals and objectives, as well as rate negotiation across all modes of transportation
  • Develop and implement QBRs with all carrier partners 
  • Develop the necessary financial controls and implement procedures to drive compliance  
  • Demonstrate an overall working knowledge of LDC operations, Common Carrier networks, holiday schedule development and communications, and general transportation policies and procedures
  • Develop on-going improvement plans relating to annual transportation budget development and forecasting, transportation department procedures and controls, order flow planning, carrier selection and management, freight payment and administration, and a redesign of UrbanStems’ outbound customer delivery system
  • Lead development and fine-tuning of existing transportation business systems including in-transit/shipment visibility systems, freight payment, and delivery verification

Qualifications

  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Transportation, Operations Management, or related technical degree preferred
  • 6+ years experience within the Transportation Industry, with a demonstrated knowledge of Fulfillment Center Operations, Logistics, and Supply Chain management
  • Specific experience in the areas of Small Package Operations Management, Change Management and related Industrial Engineering
  • Project management and demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must have extremely strong oral/written/presentation skills, with ability to interface across functional areas and at all levels of the organization
