This is an engagement through Upwork’s Hybrid Workforce Solutions (HWS) Team. Our Hybrid Workforce Solutions Team is a global group of professionals that support Upwork’s business. Our HWS team members are located all over the world.

Work/Project Scope:

  • The Impact Associate will advance Upwork’s corporate giving by helping to identify our 2023 impact priorities and managing activities that enable Upwork to source, evaluate, and support nonprofit partners.
  • Responsible for all foundation administration, including the development of Upwork’s annual grant application and supporting materials, coordination with Upwork’s Giving Circle and our Donor Advised Fund partner, and ongoing communication with applicants and other community partners.
  • Implement lean grant-making procedures that enable informed decision-making while reducing burdensome nonprofit reporting requirements.
  • Serve as an Upwork Foundation representative both internally and externally, building relationships with Upwork team members and community partners to maintain an inclusive corporate philanthropy program.
  • Develop opportunities for employee engagement, such as in-person or virtual volunteer events, and promote The Upwork Foundation’s giving in partnership with Upwork’s marketing team and Upwork Belonging Communities.
  • This is a part-time, remote contract position (20-30 hours per week) that enables the successful candidate to choose their hours and build a work week that works for them.
  • This position reports to Upwork’s ESG Senior Program Manager.

Must Haves (Required Skills):

  • 2+ years of experience developing and implementing smart and inclusive grant-making programs (experience in corporate giving a plus)
  • A deep understanding of the barriers to inclusive economic opportunity and mission-driven efforts to address those barriers in the US and abroad.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to synthesize research and recommendations into clear and concise materials.
  • Experience in program management and an ability to manage various projects and goals simultaneously.
  • Strong oral communication skills and an effective bedside manner in difficult conversations.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively about what corporate giving can achieve and how Upwork can build on its mission.
  • Familiarity with workforce readiness and education programs designed to reach underrepresented and underserved communities.
