Job Summary 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Product Cost Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving cost efficiencies and enhancing our cost management capabilities. This position will be responsible for performing detailed "should cost" analyses, evaluating production processes, and identifying areas for cost optimization across our product range. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in manufacturing, production processes, and materials to support strategic decision-making and build sustainable cost advantages. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct "should cost" analyses for products to gauge competativeness and identify optimal cost structures, analyzing factors such as materials, labor, tooling, and overhead 
  • Assess and analyze suppliers’ manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, cost drivers, and potential areas for improvement 
  • Implement cost engineering best practices and support the internal digital transformation of cost management functions 
  • Evaluate supplier quotations, including detailed cost breakdowns of parts and tooling, to ensure alignment with "should cost" models 
  • Benchmark supplier, sub-supplier material and component costs and stay updated on industry trends and developments. 
  • Support negotiation efforts by providing data-driven insights into cost elements in an actionable way 

 

Key Experience & Qualifications 

  • Degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related field. 
  • Proven Track Record in Cost Engineering: Significant experience in cost analysis and optimization within a manufacturing setting. 
  • Manufacturing Process Expertise: Deep knowledge of production methods and materials, especially plastics. 
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in cost breakdown analysis and cost modeling. 
  • Skilled in analyzing cost data and supporting negotiations with suppliers based on findings.
