This is a significant career opportunity to develop a rare expertise in a critical field while contributing to other work the firm does in the healthcare industry.

Unlock Health seeks a senior director to work in the firm's nationally recognized and leading practice focused on the relationship between payors and providers, specifically payor strategy, negotiation analytics, contract language review, and communication around networks, contract disputes.   The senior director will work with the CEO, CFO, head of payor relations, general counsel, and other key executives inside provider organizations. Internally, the senior director will bring Unlock's SMEs and executives into conversations and meetings where their expertise and experience can benefit the client. The senior director is the primary point of contact for the company's clients, serving as their account manager but also their day-to-day strategist and quarterback for all workstreams designed to bring the clients' issues to a successful conclusion. Overall, senior directors will oversee the development of multidisciplinary, multi-channel, and multi-audience plans that include all the elements of a brand campaign.

The right candidate will have a background in the hospital, physician, or specialty care environments, and will have a strong understanding of (or desire to learn about) the marketing of healthcare and the relationship between payor and provider.

What You’ll Do

  • Daily point of contact with key client contacts, as well as contact for the internal team organized to support the client's engagement.
  • Develop campaigns, working with internal SMEs and strategists, to help clients negotiate achieve the right contract rates and terms to ensure their sustainable operations.
  • Managing the needs of the client and their specific engagement goals including analytics, benchmarking, and establishing the overall strategy for the payor relationships including terminations.
  • Contributing to meetings, and liaising and updating clients on all activities
  • Keeping abreast of current trends and tools.
  • Building client relationships and maintaining a network of industry contacts to collect and synthesize intel valuable to clients.
  • Fulfilling the clientʼs key performance indicators and growing accounts.
  • Being involved in pitching for new business and developing proposals.
  • Managing a high level of client interaction.
  • Managing and mentoring junior members of the staff.

Ideal Qualifications

  • High levels of communication - presentation, verbal, and written skills.
  • Impressive emotional intelligence and interpersonal expertise.
  • A passion for healthcare, especially the provider sector.
  • Flair for creativity, strategic thinking, and innovation.
  • Strong experience (10 years or more) negotiating contracts on behalf of hospitals/health systems.
  • Strong business & finance acumen and impressive analytics and excel/database capabilities.
  • Commercially aware and business savvy - desire to know everything about the marketing aspects including copywriting and digital.
  • Good industry knowledge and experience in building influential networks.
  • Excellent computer prowess and project management skills.
  • Outstanding organization skills with an ability to manage multiple projects and portfolios.
  • Service-focused and sensitive to confidential information.
  • Willingness to teach non-business peers and teams how managed care works.
