UnitedMasters has taken the bold step of building a music distribution service that, radically, puts artists first - disrupting the legacy music business by letting up-and-coming artists distribute their music directly to fans through streaming services while maintaining ownership of their master recording rights and up to 100% of royalties. Through the combination of UnitedMasters’ music distribution platform and its deep ties to brands, UnitedMasters enables independent artists and change-makers to grow and earn unlike any other platform.

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to join UnitedMasters Inc!


# What You'll Do

As a trusted proxy for and advisor to the CEO, you will play a key role in translating his vision, values and direction into actionable plans and running the day to day operations of the company in partnership with the executive team. The Chief of Staff must be exceptionally organized, an adept project manager, highly credible, approachable and experienced at providing advice and counsel to senior leaders. You will be expected to act on behalf of the CEO while serving as an honest broker and truth teller with a company-first mindset.

  • CEO is consistently focused on and prepared for his highest-value time investments; you effectively triage demands on his time and manage/delegate distractions 
  • CEO has the right information at the right time to make good decisions quickly
  • No balls are dropped on your watch: you effectively manage, delegate and/or ensure accountability on all initiatives, projects, tasks and deliverables initiated by or involving the CEO Office and executive team 
  • Serve as the CEO’s trusted confidante and strategic thought partner, you keep his finger on the pulse of the organization and ensure that he is regularly informed of key challenges and proposed / progressing solutions 
  • You are a well respected proxy for the CEO and internal advisor who drives impact through your influence and a deep understanding of the business and its people; your relationships enable you to drive change management, de-silo information, promote cross-functional collaboration, and spot high-priority issues for resolution
  • The Company has a clear and reliable operating rhythm that drives accountability and excellence in execution, as well as communication and alignment among senior leadership
  • As a force multiplier for the executive and senior leadership teams, you set productive meeting agendas, represent the perspective of the CEO, offer advice and counsel, and infuse rigor and empathy in process and communications.
  • Manage seamless CEO Office operations, including by clarifying scheduling priorities and promoting business continuity through the development of CEO Office playbooks, shared resources and collaboration tools
  • Partner with the Head of Communications to support internal communications on behalf of the CEO, including by facilitating a regular drumbeat of internal engagements that inspire, motivate and align the enterprise team

# Minimum Qualifications

  • Briefing, guiding and coaching executives and senior leaders 
  • Managing high-priority projects with multiple senior stakeholders 
  • Developing and managing organizational systems, processes and playbooks - especially goal setting, strategic planning 
  • Communicating and customizing messaging to various audiences
  • Synthesizing and presenting data and content in well organized documents and decks, especially for executive audiences and the Board of Directors

About UnitedMasters 

UnitedMasters has over 1.5 million artists on its platform and is growing rapidly. Brands like Diageo, Ally, and ESPN come to UnitedMasters to partner with these artists and play a role in moving culture forward. In the past year, UnitedMasters subscribers have grown rapidly. With $170M raised to date and valued at $550M, UnitedMasters is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Apple, Alphabet (aka Google), and Disney amongst others. Over the last year, UnitedMasters artists have used our platform to land sync deals with major brands including the NBA, ESPN, Overtime Elite, Bose, Warner Brother Studios and in the NBA video game 2k. These deals give them additional money for their work and increase their exposure.


Salary Hiring Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of many compensation, benefits and other reward opportunities we provide (e.g. bonus, stock options, 401(k) match, etc.)

Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.  We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. 

The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted.  If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.

The salary range above is for NY/CA.  As a company, we have a location based strategy, which means the salary range could be lower or higher than this if the role is hired in another location.
