ROLE
We are seeking a proactive Senior Piping Designer to join our growing Unispace Life Sciences team. This role is based out of our Mahon Office, in Cork. The successful candidate will have full autonomy to lead, grow and develop the role. This person will report to the Mechanical Manager and will be involved in exciting projects within the pharmaceutical industry. As a Piping Design Engineer at Unispace Life Sciences, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of projects in the life science sector. You will be responsible for a range of tasks related to the design and implementation of piping systems, ensuring the highest quality and compliance with industry standards. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Site Surveys: Conduct thorough site surveys to gather essential information for project planning and design.
- Generating Drawings: Utilize 2D and 3D AutoCAD software to create detailed engineering drawings and schematics. engineering drawings
- Layout Planning: Develop layout designs for new equipment in both new and existing facilities, optimizing space utilization and ensuring efficient workflows.
- Pipework Routing: Design and implement field routing plans for new pipework within new and existing facilities, adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Familiarity with 3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Revit) is advantageous

- Review Vendor Drawings: Evaluate and review vendor-provided drawings and specifications to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Isometric Generation: Prepare isometric drawings to provide a detailed view of pipe layouts and connections.
- Quality Assurance: Review and check drawings created by other team members for accuracy and adherence to design standards.
- Design Packages: Assist in the preparation of final design packages, including drawings, specifications, and documentation for client review and approval.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or a related experience within design
- 6+ years of experience in piping design and engineering, preferably in the life science industry.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D AutoCAD software for drafting and modeling.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME, ASTM, API) related to piping design and materials.
- Familiarity with process piping, materials, and equipment commonly used in the life science sector.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design-related issues.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within project timelines.
- Knowledge of project management principles and software tools is a plus.
