Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Responsible to: Director of Construction / Managing Surveyor

Location: Beech Hill, Reading / On-site (London)

Why you’re here

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will act as an integral part of a team that is accountable for the commercial and contractual performance of a project. You will work with the pre-contract & contract teams, providing surveying duties whilst developing and maintaining good working practices throughout the company.

What you’re responsible for

  • Assistance in the compiling of tenders / pricing of negotiated projects.
  • Assistance in the preparation of pre contract measurement and compiling of Bills of Quantity
  • Assist in compiling cashflow forecasts
  • Supplier & S/C enquiries, negotiations and orders.
  • Undertake remeasures, client and subcontractor valuations, variations & final accounts
  • Subcontractor & supplier payments
  • Prepare and present costed variations to clients
  • Prepare & present cost / value reconciliations
  • Ensure that files are complete and contemporary
  • Process new suppliers and subcontractors into the company
  • Compile, analyse & report supplier / subcontractor performance figures
  • Assist with up-dating surveying documentation

Your experience & skills

  • Experience working on a range of large projects ideally within a similar industry or main contractor
  • MRICS or professionally qualified in either a surveying or engineering discipline
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of local market and subcontractors
  • Demonstrated understanding of preconstruction and delivery methodologies
  • Construction planning, estimating, budgeting and forecasting
  • Commercial awareness
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Meticulous attention to detail
