ULTRA MOBILE is seeking a talented Financial Data Scientist to join the Strategy & Analysis Team! Individual reports to AVP, Strategy & Analysis. Role is remote; must reside in the United States.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Business Analysis Manager will play a critical role in understanding and addressing the drivers of customer churn and deactivations. This role requires a deep analytical focus on variance and root cause analysis, particularly examining links between churn patterns and customer acquisition sources. You will be responsible for ongoing churn analysis, forecasting, and collaborating closely with the retention segmentation analysis team to develop coordinated strategies. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Alteryx is essential to perform data analysis, build models, and support the development of churn mitigation strategies.
Your usual day of awesomeness includes:
Churn Analysis and Forecasting
- Conduct root cause analysis of customer churn drivers, using data to trace deactivation trends back to acquisition channels.
- Develop and refine forecasting models for churn, applying insights to support retention strategies.
- Analyze customer behaviors and retention metrics using SQL, Python, and Alteryx to identify actionable trends and patterns.
- Support retention strategy by closely collaborating with the retention segmentation analysis team.
Variance and Impact Analysis
- Identify key business drivers and variations in churn rates, using these insights to guide resource allocation and program adjustments.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of customer acquisition channels and the impact of initiatives on retention and customer lifetime value.
- Conduct in-depth variance analysis to uncover root causes of changes in churn rates and customer deactivations, connecting insights to business units for proactive strategy adjustments.
Business Strategy and Reporting
- Provide strategic recommendations based on churn analysis to align with business goals.
- Support the creation of dynamic reporting frameworks for churn, deactivations, and retention performance.
- Collaborate on self-service tools and dashboards to democratize data access across teams.
- Document analysis processes and findings, building a resource repository to streamline decision-making.
Cross-functional Collaboration and Communication
- Engage with teams across the organization to gather input and provide insights on customer retention.
- Work closely with the retention segmentation analysis team to align on findings and develop coordinated retention strategies.
- Present complex churn analysis findings in clear, actionable terms to influence strategic decision-making.
- Foster a data-driven culture, encouraging the use of churn insights across departments.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a related field; experience in telecom or a related field is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, or a related role with a strong focus on churn analysis and retention strategy.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and Alteryx for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and forecasting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to translate complex insights into actionable business strategies.
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset with the ability to engage stakeholders across departments.

In support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the range of starting pay for this role is $120,000 - $130,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location.
