Co-Op, Producer Cell Line Research and Development
Position Summary:
ultrafocused – Work together to fearlessly uncover new possibilities
Reporting to the Senior Research Associate, the Co-Op will support the team by maintaining stock cell cultures and performing standard molecular biology assays. Largely focusing on CRISPR and Next Generation Sequencing the Co-Op will aid the team in carrying out experiments and generating data which contributes to the company goals.
Work Model:
Core Lab & Ops: This role typically requires that the majority of the work be conducted on-site and thus will be subject to certain on-site safety protocols during the pandemic.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in experiments using an understanding of molecular biology techniques
- Assisting the team in troubleshooting and developing new NGS assays
- Perform several bench assays independently an under supervision (PCR, qPCR, Gel Electrophoresis, etc.)
- Understand additional analytical techniques in the lab (Western Blotting, Microscopy, Flow Cytometry, etc.)
- Exercise excellent cell culture and aseptic techniques
- Conduct independent analysis and interpretation of results
- Demonstrate an understanding of molecular biology and contribute in team discussions
- Work both independently and as part of a team to drive innovation
- Maintain a high level of organization and note keeping consistent with the standards of the team
Requirements:
- Actively enrolled in pursuing an undergraduate degree in one or more of the following fields: cell and molecular biology, virology, biochemistry, or bioinformatics
- Previous experience in a formal lab setting
- Experience with basic molecular biology techniques
- Experience with good aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with LNP transfections, and viral transduction
- Understanding of and interest in CRISPR Cas9, and Next Generation Sequencing
- Conduct independent literature searches to stay current on lab technique and practice
- Strong communication and note taking skills
- Willingness to learn and succeed in a laboratory setting
- Independently motivated and detail-oriented with good problem-solving abilities
