We are looking for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team! 

How You’ll Contribute

  • Contribute to the design of electronics and harnesses for our fully automated sequencing and support instruments, encompassing precise robotics to high-speed data acquisition systems.
  • Define experiments to test functional and failure use cases of board-level electronics. Perform testing to verify the design on early prototypes and capture improvements for transition to production and scaling manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot failure cases and work with multidisciplinary stakeholders to design process or hardware improvements aiming to reduce cost, and footprint, and enhance reliability and manufacturability.
  • Build expertise in instrument electronics and act as a technical resource for new product integration, collaborating with the manufacturing team to author build, test, and training documentation.
  • Implement automation for measurements that qualify component and sub-system level performance, conducting accelerated lifetime testing to ensure reliability.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in designing custom PCBs and electronics for mixed-signal processing, with an understanding of practical design considerations to ensure both signal and power integrity.
  • Proficiency with Electrical CAD packages such as Altium, or KiCAD for PCB design and the ability to read schematics and understand board layout.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial electronics, including power supply sizing, wire harness design, part layout, and selection.
  • Knowledge of harness component selection, EMI/shielding strategies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues at board level and on complex multi-disciplinary instruments and familiarity with bench and portable measurement instruments.
  • Proficiency in automation and data analysis using Python is a plus.
  • Hands-on and independent work style, coupled with excellent organizational and communication skills.

At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $95,000 and $120,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.  Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.  This role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; paid holidays; paid time off; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
