Programmable DNA, the software of Life, is finally here! Twist Bioscience is developing a disruptive Synthetic DNA technology that will change the world, enabling widespread health and sustainability. Synthetic biologists will use our products to engineer how organisms produce cures to diseases, everyday chemicals are made using the atmosphere as the carbon source, plants make their own fertilizers, in-vivo diagnostics will alert us when we are sick, and many more applications.
Specific responsibilities include:
Assist engineers and scientists as they develop, modify and test new hardware and processes
Assist in product design, development and production
Sustaining support and maintenance of existing equipment
Conduct experimental testing, collect data and maintain documentation
Design, develop, test, and manufacture electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems
Results oriented, self motivated and able to work from plans and documentation without supervision
B.S. or A.S, in Engineering, life sciences or related field
4+ years hands-on experience working with hardware assembly on instrumentation including precision motion control stages, optics, fluidics and a range of I/O hardware
Experience in designing and writing scripts using control software desired
Excellent communication and writing skills, very organized and ability to work in a fast paced team environment
Experience developing and documenting assembly and operating procedures
Experience in machining preferred
Experience with CAD Software such as Solidworks preferred
Experience with electronics including PCB assembly, cable building, and debugging
