About the job

This position is needed to help Twilio power our next-generation machine learning driven platform by designing, building, and deploying applications into the real world. You’re excited about applying machine learning to Twilio’s products, and by the idea of making it easy for customers to get more value out of their communications. You’re eager to learn and inspire, and make an impact with an early-stage product. 

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Ensure the successful delivery of projects from vision, through execution, and reliable, dependable, scalable, operations.
  • Foster the growth of an inclusive, high-performing team through mentorship and coaching.
  • Lead technical decisions for your team and influence technical decisions across your functional domains. 
  • Work with other engineering teams and with members of the product organisation to distill internal and customer needs into requirements and tech specs.
  • Drive high engineering standards on the team through code review, automated testing, and mentoring. We care what our code looks like, and you should too.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 8+ years of work experience building highly scalable products
  • Strong experience with Java, Scala, or Python 
  • Experience building scalable software systems and a background in distributed systems, infrastructure, business logic for APIs or tooling to help debug mission critical applications
  • Experience debugging and scaling production infrastructure and services
  • Understanding of AWS infrastructure or similar public cloud providers
  • A tenacity for learning - curious, and constantly pushing the boundary of what is possible
  • Strong technical and leadership chops.
  • The ability to manage and resolve conflict - you have the ability to listen, present, and question effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills- in person, on paper, or on Zoom. 

Desired:

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science

Location 

This role will be based in one of our US offices or remote and based in the USA. 

Approximately 0% travel is anticipated.

  • The estimated pay range for this role, based in Colorado, is $146,240 - $201,080.
  • Sales Commission: Additionally, this role is eligible to earn commissions and eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.
  • Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
