Who?

On the Mobile Apps team, we believe that product thinking, versatility and complementing proficiencies is key to forming a better team. Therefore, we are looking for a versatile fullstack software engineer to join our Mobile Apps team in Tallinn who is passionate about designing, developing, releasing and operating software solutions at scale. This fullstack engineer will  help Twilio define and deliver Twilio Frontline to the market for next-generation communications.

There’s much to learn, and much to be done! You must have at least 3 of the proficiencies below to be considered for the role:

  • Full-stack. You have a solid background in full-stack development using TypeScript and React, familiar with established industry standards, and curious about new technologies.
  • User Interfaces and User Experience. You have experience in building responsive and consistent UI components with great user experience for the web. You can illustrate it with a few examples from your portfolio.
  • Testing and Releasing. You are passionate about quality and can engineer it at all stages of software development. You are able to design and develop quality pipelines requiring as little human intervention as possible.
  • API Stack. You have experience in designing and implementing backend services exposing REST APIs and powering Client SDKs and Web front-ends.
  • Cross-platform desktop frameworks. You take interest and have some experience using cross-platform frameworks like Electron.

What?

As a member of the Messaging Mobile Apps team, you will have an opportunity to build a next-generation customer communication product with Twilio Frontline, and impact the globally-distributed, bulletproof communication platform that powers Frontline, Conversations and Flex products. 

You will contribute to product development end-to-end: from working with members of the product and UX organisations to distill requirements to architecture, design and implementation. You’ll also be accountable to operate the systems and applications you’ve created live, devops-style.

In this role you will design and build frontend applications and customer experience tools for Twilio Frontline. You will wear architect, coder, QA and product hats, and develop at multiple layers of software stack: networking, protocols, data modeling, business logic, public interfaces and user interfaces.

  • DRAW THE OWL: Not every problem has a textbook solution. You will be expected to research the unknowns, implement and iterate. Educate your team as you go.
  • BE AN OWNER & BE BOLD: You will own the design, implementation and the operations of Mobile Applications frontend applications and customer experience tools, serving handling hundreds of millions of requests daily.
  • DON’T SETTLE: Live and champion mature, high-quality engineering through writing tests, valuing code maintainability, documenting your work, etc.
  • WRITE IT DOWN: Twilio is a global, fast-growing company that builds complex systems. To be successful in joining these globally built complex parts of the system, you will be expected to write down the requirements, design, implementation, etc.
  • EMPOWER OTHERS: You will primarily collaborate with other Messaging teams based in Tallinn and San Francisco and, of course, rest of the Twilio engineering globally.

This position will be located in our beautiful and well-designed office at Veerenni 38 in Tallinn, though considering the world’s current circumstances it will start from your home office.
