Edge Infrastructure is a Platform organization responsible for the front door of all HTTP traffic at Twilio. Our edge infrastructure platform handles all API and web application traffic for Twilio. Twilio is looking for an intelligent, creative, and inspired Technical Lead to join us on Edge Infrastructure. We are seeking individuals with a demonstrated capacity to learn and adapt. Candidates should have demonstrated success working collaboratively to build highly reliable, low latency distributed backend systems. They should also have experience mentoring teammates to develop talented software engineers.
- Experience in cloud architectures and complex distributed systems
- Experience using caching technologies
- Experience with load balancing and CDN technologies
- Experience with DNS and SSL
- Experience with Java development
- Bonus points for evented architectures and technologies
- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required
A great day for you would be working on a small collaborative engineering team, building services and tooling to enable Twilio engineers to surface their Twilio web applications and APIs safely, easily, and quickly. As a Technical Lead on the Web Infrastructure team, you will be expected to:
- Design, implement, and support micro-services at scale in a collaborative environment
- Mentor junior engineers to grow professionally
- Champion and implement operational best practices and serve on-call for the team’s services
- Participate actively in sprint, weekly, and quarterly ceremonies
- Demonstrate quickness in learning and ability to teach constantly
- Test rigorously and thoroughly
- Communicate complex ideas simply through verbal and written communication
Edge Infrastructure is responsible for our all web traffic at Twilio. As the front door for all web traffic, including API and Web console endpoints, our services have high uptime requirements and ambitious performance requirements. Twilio is comprised of 15+ autonomous empowered engineering teams that are startups responsible for a part of Twilio. Our team provides edge gateway services that serve every request to a Twilio web page, console application, and REST API. It is extremely important for us to build reliable, available, performant services!
