Who?

We are looking for an experienced employment attorney with deep experience in EMEA employment law to join our team of lawyers and paralegals. This job is for you if you are a motivated, self-starter who can own all aspects of the employment legal function in our EMEA offices and build strong relationships with our HR team and across all business units.  You have experience working closely with a strong sales team and knowledgeable about sales compensation plans, including but not limited to drafting leave of absence provisions, terms and conditions, and other sales provisions. You are also able to maintain your composure while tackling complex issues in a fast-paced environment. And, you possess a sense of humor and disdain for drama.

What?

An engaging day for you will likely involve meeting with HRBPs on employee relations matters where you will leverage your expertise in European employment laws to provide practical advice that balances legal risks with company objectives.  You may also review and advise on company policies and practices, such as recruiting practices, employment agreements, sales compensation plans or the employee handbook. You will team with outside counsel on particular matters, and leverage their expertise to help navigate complex employment issues.  You should also expect something (or many things) unexpected to arise, and you will exercise your outstanding judgment to reset your priorities and communicate to your internal clients any altered expectations.

Specific responsibilities will include the following:

  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and support to Human Resources and management.
  • Advise on topics such as employee handbooks, policies and procedures; recruiting and hiring; employee relations; performance management; discipline and terminations; internal investigations; disability and accommodations; sick leave and other leaves of absence; working time; compensation and benefits; discrimination, harassment and retaliation; confidentiality and restrictive covenants; global M&A; and, contingent worker issues.
  • Our current focus areas are Europe, Middle East and Africa....with UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Eastern Europe as a priority.
  • Keep informed of significant labor and employment trends and decisions, legislation and rulings.
  • Draft and coordinate responses to requests for employment records, demand letters, and government audits and investigations.
