We are currently looking for a Technical Lead to join our growing team in our downtown Toronto studio. Help us deliver high-quality software across a variety of client projects and industries.

We are looking for someone who can solve technical challenges, which include architecting and deploying infrastructure to handle scale and deliver well-designed, maintainable solutions in a Lean/Agile environment.

About the Job

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, clarity and direction for the project’s development team
  • Collaborate with team members in evaluating technical merits and costs associated with product decisions
  • Facilitate design/architecture discussions
  • Scope projects that require multiple developer resources
  • Lead projects from conception to release
  • Review code, merge branches and generally be a great team player by seeking out and providing feedback
  • Deliver operational excellence by identifying, resolving and fixing root issues
  • Build robust, lasting and extensible systems in Node, Java, C#, Rails and others (we're not picky about which tools you've used - our team works across many stacks)
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, strategists, QA analysts and account managers on client projects and new opportunities
  • Continuously integrate automated software tests and deployments

Minimum Requirements

  • Technical leadership and mentorship experience
  • Experience in full cycle project development
  • Experience with modern databases such as Postgres, Redis, MongoDB, etc...
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud hosting platforms
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients to define user requirements and application architecture
  • 5+ years of software development experience, primarily in JavaScript, Ruby, C#, Java, Python or equivalent
  • Computer Science, Software Engineering or Web Development degree or certificate or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of database design, network services, solution architecture and implementation

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Linux/Unix systems and open-source software
  • Exposure to and enthusiasm for Agile approaches to software development (e.g. automated testing, continuous integration, project rooms, etc.)
  • Experience with distributed computing
