Job Overview

TuSimple’s Product Manager II plays a critical role in defining and executing the vision for our virtual driver. The Product Manager II is focused on developing plans and product requirements for a collection of product features by creating sprint plans, optimizing resources, and partnering with cross-functional teams to implement feature plans

Opportunity Responsibilities and Mission

  • Take ownership and make decisions on the requirement formulation and design of autonomous driving behaviors.
  • Interface closely with the development and testing teams on the product requirements.
  • Be active in helping and collaborating with other product managers on developing product requirements for different parts of the stack.
  • Able to work and think independently when driving product development.
  • Develops and implements a highly defined and effective plan and requirements for assigned collection of features.
  • Conducts research on the autonomous vehicle industry and other similar safety system industries to stay on top of trends, protocols and safety requirements.
  • Fosters cross-functional team work and promotes collaboration, coordination and consistent communication among stakeholders. Builds trusted relationships with internal partner teams, to ensure alignment with priorities.
  • Effectively partners with cross-functional teams, including PMO, Algorithm, Software and Hardware Engineering, to meet product roadmap objectives. Identifies cross-functional and inter-team challenges and makes recommendations to solve.
  • Able to travel to different TuSimple facilities for testing and meetings

Experience and Skills required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field. (Preferred: Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, related field or MBA) 
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in product management or product analyst role in the Autonomous Vehicle industry 
  • Experience in advanced driver assist systems and autonomous driving systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with requirement management tools and processes.
  • Comfortable in agile development environment and usage of Jira
  • Strong ability in problem formulation and prioritization.
  • Ability to break down complex and open-ended scenarios into digestible elements.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize feature development based on business needs.
  • Experience designing sprint plans that are achievable and meet short term product deadlines consistently.
  • Consistently utilizes data and research to justify decisions.
