Opportunity Overview 

TuSimple’s Senior Manager, Purchasing & Processes leads all aspects of our procurement strategic processes and the supporting system enablement.

In this role, the Senior Manager, Procurement Process operates as the conduit, connecting Procurement strategies, business processes and tools, and technological functions and systems capabilities. The incumbent will develop, implement, and continuously refine TuSimple’s global supply chain and procurement technology roadmap, partnering cross-functionally to facilitate and drive change management in execution of the roadmap, while ensuring alignment with business needs.

Additional areas of focus include development, implementation and optimization of business intelligence and analytics requirements, systems, process, tools, and metrics, as it relates to supply chain and procurement, audit compliance, and direct and indirect sourcing and supply chain Center of Excellence(COE) support

Role Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and continuously refines TuSimple’s Procurement Technology Roadmap across all functions and operations of our global supply chain (i.e. planning/ sourcing / supply chain)
  • Operates as a Business Partner to assigned divisions, enabling and realizing supply chain transformation strategies. Actively drives improvements in service, working capital metrics, and cost reduction
  • Builds, implements, and continuously optimizes process standards for the Procurement/;Supply Chain COE
  • Conducts research into technology, systems, and tools necessary to optimize the global procurement processes-including planning, sourcing, supply chain, materials management. business analytics, and reporting. Assesses business needs, analyzes, and makes recommendations for technology, systems, and tools which will best align with business needs. Leads implementation and ensures organizational readiness for change through appropriate trainings and documentation
  • Operates as a leader across Procurement project teams to support the development and implementation of processes and system changes which drive impactful business results
  • .Serves as a procurement business partner and resource across the organization. Provides global expertise and support with data mining, analysis, and reportings. Conducts research on best practices that ensure the optimal business operations. Analyzes risk and provides feedback and mitigation options to business, prepares and conducts trainings, responds to questions, and leads and/or supports procurement and supply chain initiatives
  • Partners across the business (including Finance, Quality, and other Procurement teams) to ensure compliance with necessary regulations, quality frameworks, and internalcontrols
  • Partners across the business to develop, implement, own, and execute Master Service Agreements (MSA)and Scopes of Work (SOW) templates relative to Procurement and Supply Chain
  • Provides strong leadership in the recruitment, training and development of top-quality talent, ensuring the high level of performance and productivity. Builds morale, motivates and instills productivity and teamwork, creates and promotes a positive and supportive work environment. Creates a culture of continuous improvement for processes, systems, data, training, people, etc.

 

Experience & Skills Required

  • High School Diploma or above in Management, Business, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Inventory Management, or a related field.  
  • 8 years Procurement experience, including:
    • 2 year experience leading a team of Supply Chain/Procurement professionals, and
    • 3 years experience leading the development and implementation of Procurement/Supply Chain processes and systems.
  • Proven excelling with building and improving processes and promoting quality
  • Deep understanding of supply chain principles and processes, including supply/demand planning, safety stock, lead-time, transportation, and warehousing
  • Superior knowledge of purchasing practices, including methods of establishing costs, selling prices, terms, and general knowledge of business law (e.g. Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreements) relative to procurement practices and inventory management
  • Advanced knowledge of sourcing and materials management systems and processes
  • Ability to analyze Bills of Materials, Master Schedules, Excess and Obsolete Inventory Reports, in order to collect, analyze and summarize information and trends
  • Strong knowledge of, or experience with, Spend Analytics, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Modelling, SensitivityAnalysis,Leverage Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Conflict Resolution, and Stakeholder Management
  • Versed in different agreements and pricing structures paired with strong mathematical, financial acumen
  • Ability to read and understand legal contract terms. Familiarity with financial management of contracts including understanding business cases, understanding contract cost structures, support and maintenance costs structures, and negotiating savings/reductions in costs for contracts. Able to analyze costs and financial risks relating to contracts
  • Ability to read and understand engineering components and assembly drawings
  • Solid understanding of automotive and technical parts
  • Superior knowledge of shipping and receiving requirements and procedures
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and successfully lead multiple initiatives. Understanding of Lean Management, Agile, SCRUM, and continuous improvement best practices, principles and methodologies
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of complex data and distill it down to provide timely insights and actionable intelligence
  • In depth understanding of ERP systems, processes, and databases, as it relates to materials/procurement modules
  • Proven ability to conduct data mining analysis and reporting through ERP and other Procurement/Supply chain systems, identifying discernable patterns and trends, as well as associated implications
  • Proven ability to design User Front-End Applications for Manufacturing and Supply Chain
  • Proficient CRM systems, Excel/google sheets, and Contract Management tools and systems
  • Familiarity with compliance and audit standards, including SOX, as it relates to Procurement.
  • Proven success with change management and driving initiatives that produce positive business impact.
