Job Description
The Maintenance manager will be responsible for routine and scheduled maintenance of TuSimple’s fleet of vehicles. You will ensure all vehicles are in safe and working order and allow for maximum utilization of the fleet by reducing downtime.
Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate all maintenance activities in the facilities including analyzing equipment needs, reliability issues, developing preventive/predictive maintenance programs
- Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers
- Monitor equipment, inventory, and place orders when necessary
- Maintain maintenance logs and report on daily activities
- Ensure that teams have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to an allotted budget
- Ensure that all maintenance operations are done in accordance with company policy and OSHA guidelines
- Maintenance P&L Management and expense analysis
- Support all Autonomous Operations teams (i.e. Quality, Maintenance, Solutions) in returning trucks to service after maintenance, repairs, installation, etc.
- Provide real-time technical information regarding fleet scheduling and maintenance readiness
- Communicate all service maintenance delays, cancellations, and any other maintenance discrepancies that impact scheduled service and customer impact
- Ensure all work is done in a safe manner, following all protocols, including Lockout / Tagout
- Coordinate planned extended maintenance operations with Product, Testing, and Engineering to minimize lost time on the trucks
Qualifications
- BS in Transportation, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or similar relevant field
- 3-5+ yrs exp in a leadership role within maintenance
- 10+ years' experience in Class A Operations, automotive, operations, maintenance
- Understand DOT & HOS Rules and regulations
- Technical and Computer Experience - Maintenance Systems and basic computer skills needed
- Skilled in using company resources to support maintenance operations
- Prior experience in maintaining 50+ class 8 assets, 50+ trailers, and 50+ technicians across varying shifts
- Experience in maintenance planning with operations staff
- History of maintaining 3rd party maintenance relationships, including warranties
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
- Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, all levels of management team, and other departments
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrate strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to develop people
Preferred Qualifications
- NATMI - Certified Director of Maintenance/Equipment or Certified Supervisor of Maintenance/Equipment
- ASE Certification E1- E3
- CDL -Class A
