About the team

At Turo, we recognize that great design is the cornerstone of our mission to revolutionize how the world uses its 1.5+ billion cars. It's not just about looks; it's about enabling entrepreneurial hosts to thrive, helping guests find their ideal car for every journey, and supporting them before, during, and after their trip. Here, design is not just valued—it's essential, driving our commitment to research and data-informed, customer-centric experiences that empower our community and enhance every trip.

What you’ll do:

As a Senior Product Designer on our newly formed Traffic team, you will leverage your strong UX design skills and experience to design product features, and product flows and run experiments to attract and engage millions of new Turo guests. You will be central in helping our CRM campaigns and significant marketing investments translate into new customer growth. You and your team will be empowered to design every aspect of how our product attracts and engages new users, from a connected ecosystem of notifications to entirely new user acquisition and engagement flows.

  • Independently work with a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment, leading every stage of the design and build process—from research and exploratory design sprints to prototyping, testing, and delivery of high-fidelity designs across desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Work closely with data analytics teams to pose UX questions and leverage data to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to seamlessly integrate marketing campaigns into the user journey.
  • Take ownership of your work and demonstrate a proactive and self-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Design impactful solutions that reduce complexity and eliminate design debt, consistently refining details to achieve a high level of polish.
  • Communicate and present designs, rationale, and user insights effectively to cross-functional stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including at concept and design reviews.
  • Regularly identify new problems and opportunities for your team to solve, significantly influencing your team's strategy and roadmaps.
  • Be a role model for our design principles, process, and company values for other designers.

Your profile:

  • Excellent interaction and visual design skills, with the ability to crisply communicate design thinking and rationale, leading and influencing during design discussions with cross-functional partners and leaders.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a UX designer of consumer products successfully shipped to the public, with a portfolio demonstrating the customer and business impact of your designs.
  • Experience designing for multiple forms of testing (qualitative, quantitative, and multivariate) to increase confidence and validate hypotheses, accelerating time to impact.
  • Experience using data to formulate design hypotheses and elevate design quality.
  • Collaborative, low-ego approach to working with others, valuing teamwork and collective problem-solving.
  • Flexibility and good judgment.

Additional considerations:

  • Strong preference for designers with experience working on projects focused on increasing market awareness, attracting a wider consumer base, new user acquisition, and first-time user experience.
  • We will consider both remote candidates and candidates local to the San Francisco Bay Area. If you are local, you will benefit from bonding with most of the Product Development organization in person and taking advantage of our San Francisco office location for in-person collaboration. We believe these face-to-face connections can enrich teamwork and enhance the design process.
