About the team

We are seeking an accomplished Director with a proven track record in strategic planning, leadership, and operational excellence in high-stakes environments.

In this pivotal role, you will lead our programs and teams responsible for investigating auto crime incidents, securing assets, responding effectively to incidents, and maintaining robust relations with law enforcement agencies across the United States. The ideal candidate excels in developing crime mitigation strategies, leveraging data for insights, and enhancing collaboration between internal and external partners to ensure a safe, secure, and trustworthy marketplace for our global customers.

This position is based in Phoenix, AZ and will report to our Head of Trust & Safety.

What you will do

  • Oversee and lead the strategic development and operational execution of Turo's investigation, incident response, and law enforcement responses initiatives
  • Direct and mentor a group of managers and professionals, establish scalability through the development of efficient and streamlined processes.
  • Ensure alignment of strategies and efforts with the international Trust & Safety group, leveraging global insights and resources.
  • Initiate training and development programs to advance capabilities in investigations, including improving techniques and our knowledge base. 
  • Manage the budget and vendors for the programs; evaluate and procure technology and tools to enhance capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare comprehensive reporting for senior management, detailing performance, trends, and recommendations for policy and procedural changes. 
  • Stay informed about emerging threats, technologies, and methodologies in auto theft and customer safety, adapting strategies accordingly.

Your profile

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including progressive experience in managing and scaling multiple programs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Outstanding communication skills: can present to large and senior audiences, inspire global teams, provide clear direction, and communicate results effectively.
  • Passionate about delivering best-in-class support, understanding stakeholders' needs through feedback, and balancing customer, employee, and Turo's needs in decision-making.
  • Proven track record of successful collaboration with law enforcement agencies and understanding of legal procedures and requirements.
  • Strong organizational leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Familiarity with the peer-to-peer marketplace model and the unique challenges it presents in terms of security and trust. 

The Phoenix base salary target range for this full-time position is $145,000-$175,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in this location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
