The Role

You will work on a broad spectrum of projects which include technologies like many components of AWS with a special focus on managing Kubernetes(EKS) using IaaS tools such as Terraform, advanced observability stack based on DataDog, Newrelic, and Opsgenie, and CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD and GitHub Actions.

Your role assumes interaction with engineers and engineering managers of all functions to enable greater adoption of DevOps practices across the organization, a greater sense of ownership by the engineers, and broader distribution of responsibility while fostering cross-functional collaboration on tooling, promoting consistency of tools and practices 

The Team  

As a member of the Infrastructure Automation team, you will have a direct impact on the structure and direction of TuneIn’s operations and automation. You’ll help design and develop the architecture of our systems through their entire lifecycle and work closely with our engineering teams to implement them by applying efficient and highly scalable methodologies. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to help maintain excellent uptime, keep our systems fast, and cost-efficient, plus develop tools for our internal teams for ever greater self-service. Your area of ownership serves both our customers and our internal engineering teams.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain automated management of TuneIn’s services in AWS using Terraform and other tools for both new and existing services.
  • Help the engineering team build CI/CD processes that facilitate rapid iteration of development while minimizing the need for custom tooling and enabling easier interoperability between components maintained by different teams.
  • Together with the NOC and SRE team, work on analyzing and improving observability with the goal of creating SLOs and helping developers to reach SLA targets for their services.
  • Understand the day-to-day practical issues faced by each engineering group and collaboratively work with each team to define, design, and implement automation to improve overall developer productivity.
  • Frequent collaboration with US, Canada, Poland, and Ukraine-based team members both to educate and mentor as well as to ensure the alignment around the optimal automation for TuneIn.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years of cloud infrastructure management experience (AWS)
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • BS in computer science preferred 

Skills & Technical Abilities 

  • Deep experience in cloud container orchestration (Kubernetes(EKS), Docker)
  • Experience with “infrastructure as a code” (Terraform or Pulumi)
  • Experience with modern deployment and CI/CD methodologies
  • Strong Security skills 
  • Networking experience (VPC, VPN, NAT)
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and testing skills
  • Compute (capacity planning, scalability, cluster/container management, etc)
  • Site reliability experience (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or others)
  • Thorough understanding of IAM, roles, groups, permissions
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and service mesh is a plus
  • Familiarity with programming and/or scripting languages (Go, Python)
