Tumblr’s Content Intelligence team is looking for a well-versed engineer and information architect who’s ready to take ownership of entire features in our code base. Along with having the best title at this company, you’ll be responsible for the tools we use in our public and private applications to combat abuse, malice, and large-scale threats. You’ll also code new ones as necessary that reliably and accurately use the output of custom data-mining systems.
What You'll Do:
Build product features that invisibly curtail bad actions.
Build interactive data visualization products that help identify and attack new patterns in large data sets.
Work with the Research team to build and deploy new sources of intelligence, especially processing agents that gather real-time intelligence.
Work with the Security team to rebuff emerging and active threats.
Build robust tools to hunt, evaluate and destroy unacceptable content on Tumblr.
Do your part in the Global War on Spam and delete blogs run by robots.
What We’re Looking For:
Expert-level knowledge of object oriented programming.
A desire to be deeply involved in product definition. Our engineers are expected to contribute to the direction that their products are heading.
A passion for information and architecture and a strong sense for beautiful, pragmatic code when building new data products.
Experience with sites that rely on architecture beyond the basic LAMP stack.
A deep understanding of Tumblr’s features.
Smarts, humility, and equal willingness to learn and teach.
Tools We Like:
PHP, Ruby, and Scala
Asynchronous requests and queues (frontend and backend)
