Tumblr’s Security team is looking for a well-versed Security Engineering Manager with strong technical instincts, as well as experience managing a team. You’ll work on both the theory and operations of Tumblr security, helping us maintain our liberal content policy and defending our app and infrastructure from attackers.
What You'll Do:
Guide the architecture of solutions produced by your team ensuring adequate review and sign off by appropriate Staff Engineers
Take a leadership role in determining security policy for the organization and applications.
Participate in code reviews on work done by your team to ensure quality and accuracy.
Streamline the development process to maximize productivity, minimize overhead, and ensure adequate communication.
Encourage inclusion of monitoring and alerting to catch problems early, emails and communication of status and reduction of false alarms.
Help hire, onboard, and train new members of the elite security engineering team.
Provide challenging opportunities that maximize the use of direct reports' skills.
Identify clear and attainable goals for team & individual, setting expectations for performance.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience leading a security engineering team.
Expertise with large-scale, self-managed linux deployments, and associated scripting/programming languages.
Proficiency in performance architectures and solid fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and coding patterns relevant to both user and infrastructure security in social media.
Familiarity with security engineering best practices for mobile applications on iOS and Android.
Familiarity with cryptography and related utilities in a production environment.
