TripAdvisor is seeking a unique individual to manage Business Operations and Strategy in Japan.

Reporting to the Japan Country Manager you will be responsible for managing, implementing and reporting on strategic initiatives, and also managing operational performance and reporting. The focus of the role will be on driving business operations and strategic initiatives across functions within the business. Operating as the Japan Country Manager’s Chief of Staff you will lead all cross-functional growth initiatives in Japan.

The role:  

  • Create and build relationships with stakeholders to case-study and facilitate, and then lead the implementation of cross-functional strategic initiatives
  • Create competitive intelligence  
  • Manage day-to-day operations and performance reporting for Japan
  • Identify performance improvement initiatives and strategies  
  • Develop reporting and dashboards to ensure consistent performance management  
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to identify market-specific product requirements necessary to deliver growth

The required expertise:  

  • Superb cross-functional, project management and leadership skills and the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Experience in strategic consulting  
  • Experience managing and growing an internet business in Japan
  • Proven track record delivering operational results and implementing strategic plans
  • Exceptional communication skills and experience delivering regional and global presentations  
  • Experience managing initiatives across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple, competing interests with tact and diplomacy
  • Highly organized and adept at prioritization - You can recognize and keep track of all the moving pieces in projects, adjusting to new information and goals
  • You stay abreast of innovations and changes in the digital landscape and looks for ways to integrate new offerings into business strategy and campaigns
  • Understanding of the online travel industry ideally with an eCommerce background preferred
  • Fluency in English and Japanese required  
  • Expertise in Excel – know the formulas and pivot tables that efficiently summarize and present large datasets from multiple sources
  • Excellent computer skills in general, including PowerPoint and Word, experience with SQL a plus
  • MBA preferred
