The Measurement & Analytics (“M&A”) Manager will support the strategic needs of TripAdvisor’s global Display Advertising and Key Accounts sales teams by identifying key measurement and analytic opportunities to help define and reinforce the value of TripAdvisor to marketing strategies. He/she will design and execute all manner of digital marketing tests, analyses of internal website user data and summaries of other forms of outside research to help prove the effectiveness of a wide variety of TripAdvisor marketing channels.

 The M&A Manager will contribute to the development of the  global Customer Insights roadmap, and, with the support of the Customer Insights Director and Research Associates, will strategize, execute, manage and deliver primary and secondary research that will provide the global sales and product development teams with key narratives, compelling information, case studies, facts and figures to help TripAdvisor win, extend, and retain global business across all sectors with a focus on the Hotel vertical.  

 

 The M&A Manager will drive quantitative and qualitative results to provide actionable insight into various online sectors, audience data patterns, and global and regional travel trends, which in turn drive significant incremental revenue for the business. The M&A Manager will work hand in hand with TripAdvisor Sales and Strategy Team’s leadership, as well as worldwide clients, to understand the market dynamics at both an opportunity and a threat level both globally and locally while working with the TripAdvisor Product Team to ensure that all recommendations meet TripAdvisor’s high user quality standards.

 The M&A Manager will put a primary focus on planning and designing all aspects of delivering quality tests and traveller insights, including:

  • Test TripAdvisor Marketing Solutions: Determine most valuable priorities for digital product testing, then lead test design, execution and management, working with Engineering, Ad Operation and other internal constituents to prove and showcase the value of TripAdvisor marketing and products to encourage clients toward larger investments
  • Mine Internal Global User Data: Design and deliver Dashboards, Reports and other tools and products which analyse and provide significant insights using the large volume of data available from TripAdvisor’s hundreds of millions of annual visitors
  • Manage Outside Research: Oversee vendor research proposals and ensure the delivery of top-notch primary and syndicated research, facts and insights
  • Manage Extended Stakeholders: Set clear objectives, methodologies, costs and deliverables for clients, Insights team members, engineers, Ad Operations and senior managers across the company
  • Deliver the Highest Quality Insights: Manage the final output of case studies in a clear, digestible and actionable format as well as educate the sales team and key clients of the research outputs at both a high level and campaign specific view
  • Lead Quality Partner Consulting: While the delivery of actionable data and insights products is key, the ideal candidate will also be able to think proactively about how to best use research and testing to improve client relationships and in so doing potentially lead the development of new business opportunities

This position will be based in London and report directly to the Director of Customer Insights and support the research and business needs of TripAdvisor’s global Sales teams, based primarily out of London, Boston, New York and Singapore.

Experience working with, or a strong desire to learn, and properly manage differences in international markets is therefore required. The M&A Manager is expected to stay current and be well versed in all online, interactive, and digital media advancements.

 Responsibilities also include:

  • Strategic ownership of in-house data mining models, reports, tools, dashboards and methodologies
  • Running of ad hoc data queries to suggest new research ideas or confirm test results, trends & assumptions
  • Leadership of external vendor relationships for extended research & testing
  • Wide understanding and ability to communicate and apply research findings across multiple platforms
  • Manage direct workflow for Research Associates to support wider Sales team requests as needed
  • Develop reports and analytics that help target consumer segments and better define site users
  • Create or validate research collateral material for internal and external use
  • Liaise and collaborate with other TripAdvisor teams including Display Advertising, Key Accounts, Hotels Solutions, PR & Marketing, Product and more
  • Working with cross-functional teams to project manage all stages of tests from business justification, to engineering requirements to implementation and QA, to monitoring results to reporting and output Produce test summaries, case studies, reports, dashboards, decks and other deliverables for internal use, client reporting or public view

 

  •  Must be familiar with basic SQL querying and modelling
  • Experience working with Tableau a large plus
  • Well-versed in general and advertising-specific research tools including, but not limited to, comScore, online measurement and research vendors such as TagMan or Compete, Forrester Research or other research vendors, PhoCusWright or other travel research vendors, Visual Science or other web analytics tools (i.e. WebTrends, Omniture SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics, etc.), online survey platforms such as Cvent, Vovici or SurveyMonkey
  • Online media research experience or online marketing analytics experience
  • Experience working closely with a Sales organization preferred but not required
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Strong oral, written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strategic thinker and problem solver
  • Bachelor degree or higher, MBA preferred
  • Proficiency in all MS Office programs
