ABOUT THE ROLE

At TripActions, one of our values from day one has been “we are all about the user - all of them”. As a UX designer at TripActions, you will help lead the design and user experience for the TripActions website, and partner closely with the product and brand teams to create a seamless and engaging experience. You will help determine methods of improving overall site architecture, navigation, layout and overall site design, as well as user research to understand how we can better serve our customers. You will play a key role in developing our creative strategy and driving the performance of our online experience.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

User Experience

UX is more than creative design, it is understanding what drives user behavior; what users want, what they expect, and ultimately how to guide them seamlessly through their experience with us. Your goal will be to create an environment that makes this incredibly intuitive, engaging, and ultimately inspiring users to quickly to learn about our product, who we are, how we’re different, and enabling them to take the next step with TripActions.

Bring Designs to Life

Collaborate closely with front-end developers on the implementation of designs, be thoughtful of practical development techniques and provide review feedback on UI implementation. Identify areas of friction across the user funnel and create new designs to improve UX.

Interaction Design

Guide the team on interactive design considerations, common controls, and their placement on the screen with consideration for what influences each decision the customer makes.

Prototyping Methodology

Build user flows, wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes to convey designs to peers, subject matter experts, and the leadership team throughout the entire design life-cycle; select the right fidelity to support a fast-moving agile development process.

Information Architecture

Construct navigation experiences, and content layouts, that are intuitive to browse, quick to interpret, and inspire an action.

Use and Contribute to the Design Systems
Contribute to a design system and UI library following user-centered best practices and standards, and use common components to drive consistency and faster development of mock-ups.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Outstanding Collaboration

Quickly iterate and develop alternative designs based on feedback from the team or learnings found in user testing. Abide aggressive schedules in close collaboration with the Product and Marketing teams via mockups, UX review, and usability testing, to synthesize requirements and align expectations of delivering high-quality experiences.

Feedback Sponge

Must demonstrate an ability to clearly communicate rationale for design decisions, be open and eager for feedback, actively participate in constructive discussion, and adjust designs based on thoughtful evaluation.

User Research

Integrate qualitative and quantitative user feedback into web requirements to ensure designs satisfy user needs and delight users along the way. Will draw on many sources, including external research, customer testing, and analytics tools.

Technical Competencies

2-4 years experience in user experience design, interactive design, graphic design or a user research role at a SaaS or consumer company

  • Expert knowledge of Sketch and Zeplin (or similar tools)
  • Experience using prototyping tools is a plus (InVision)
  • Strong layout and typography skills
  • Experience in responsive web design
  • A great portfolio that showcases deep interaction and/or visual design skills
  • Ability to use data to inform design while also knowing when and how to use qualitative research methodologies
