Team Rubicon (TR) Canada's Field Leadership Cadre is a group of emergency management practitioners responsible for leading, or supporting TR's Incident Management efforts. Leveraging the Incident Command System (ICS), the Field Leadership Cadre provides Command and General Staff expertise to help communities prepare, respond, and recover from disasters and humanitarian crises. The Field Leadership ensures that TR's operational culture, and leadership style remain consistent.
The Field Leadership Cadre may offer leadership and support to external agencies during crises. Field Leadership members are expected to be experienced and confident in their Command & General Staff role(s), and possess a passion for teaching, and coaching emergency management leaders to be successful during operations. They will directly influence the quality of a volunteer, or client experience, and ultimately ensure a safe, efficient response to disasters anywhere TR Canada deploys. Please indicate in your application if you have previous AHIMT experience in Canada.
We seek highly skilled practitioners who have a demonstrated track record of forming teams of emotionally intelligent, disciplined, professional, and credentialed members. These members set the standard of excellence in the field, and build Command and General Staff capacity through the organization. Field Leadership members are expected to deploy on short notice for up to two weeks at a time as leased employees. The schedule is flexible but increased availability is a must during busy deployment seasons. Field Leadership members are compensated for days worked on deployment, but may also be deployed as Greyshirt volunteers.

Desired Competencies, Experience and Background
- 4+ years of relevant experience in the military, public service, or emergency management
- Current Greyshirt
- Position specific training and experience
- Completed ICS 300 and 400
- Participated in a minimum of two TR operations as Command and General Staff
- Possess exceptional training, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Social and interpersonal skills that support rapport-building
- Emotionally resilient; tolerates stress
- High level of proficiency in all ICS Command/General Staff Positions
- Completed TR Command and Control training
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Embody TR Cultural Principles
The application process will remain open and as positions within Field Leadership become available, members with the needed skill set will be notified. TR subject matter experts will review the applications and conduct a series of interviews. Members that are selected will complete pre-employment screening and WHMIS training with our third party employment company. Those selected to be part of the Field Leadership Cadre must be willing to step into the arena in a variety of tasks, however, there are no guaranteed contract hours and the Field Leaders may still be deployed as volunteer Greyshirts as the need arises.
