Tradesy is looking for an exceptional leader to helm the business intelligence and data science teams. This person will be a strategic partner with senior leaders across the company to help everyone make better decisions. You will not only need deep expertise across analytics and data science, but more importantly excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to distill complex data to their most important details, paint a narrative from disparate data points, and understand how communication of findings should differ depending on the audience. Finally, we are seeking an excellent mentor for a talented team of analysts and data scientists to ensure everyone continues to grow their skillsets.

You will:

  • Lead and define the vision of strategic analytics, business intelligence, and data science teams
  • Work cross-functionally with the executive team and all senior leadership teams within the business to defining KPIs, evangelize data-driven decision making, and develop business forecasts
  • Work closely with the Product and Marketing teams in developing data products to power on-site personalization and CRM efforts
  • Partner as needed with Engineering to deliver world-class analytics and data science solutions across the business
  • Be an excellent communicator who can drive the full cycle of analytics workflow, from requirement gathering, to data collection, analysis, modeling, reporting and visualization
  • Recruit, manage, mentor, and grow a talented team of managers, analysts, and data scientists

You have:

  • A college degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, operations research, statistics, AI, ML, or a similar technical field; Masters and/or Ph.D. a plus
  • 10-12+ years experience in analytics or data science
  • 5-7+ years experience managing analytics and data science teams and interacting with executives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a strong ability to explain complex technical topics in way that is easy for less technical executives and leaders to understand
  • Terrific business sense, including a keen ability to translate business challenges into analytics and/or data science projects
  • Deep expertise in SQL, data modeling, and warehousing
  • Deep experience with Python or another scripting language
  • Experience in business intelligence software such as Tableau, Looker, or similar
  • Fluency in Excel formulas, charting, and table formatting
  • Familiarity with probability theory, machine learning, econometric modeling, and forecasting
