Sr. Director of Brand Partnerships - XXL
XXL is seeking an experienced and energetic ad sales director to develop brand partnerships. The position will be filled by a passionate music fan who can help continue and expand the partnerships XXL has built over the years as one of the leading hip-hop new sources. XXL has been around for over 25 years and has made a tremendous impact on the culture and continues to do that daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. Our Senior Director will represent XXL’s franchises and tentpoles, such as XXL Freshman, XXL Awards, and Cypher Lab, and will conceive and sell marketing campaigns utilizing branded content, talent alignment, video, social, and radio.
The ideal candidate needs to be a savvy and strategic seller with a client and agency contacts network and the ability to generate new relationships from scratch. Experience setting up PMP & Programmatic Guaranteed deals with agency trade desks is a plus.
XXL’s Senior Director of Brand Partnerships will report to the Head of Sales for Townsquare Media and ideally be based in New York City, Chicago, or Los Angeles, but other locations may be considered.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver and exceed revenue goals set by the company
- Cover assigned territories and accounts
- Identify and close brand advertisers
- Entertain and manage agency and client contacts
- Negotiate with accounts on all details of campaigns
- Set up weekly meetings with clients and agencies
- Work closely with account managers to oversee all aspects of booked advertising campaigns through completion.
- Travel as necessary throughout the territory or for other required business trips
- Maintain weekly pending reports for accurate accounting of all business
- Work with the sales development team on presentation materials and proposals
Qualifications
- 6-8+ years in online ad sales with demonstrated success with national brand campaigns and sponsorships.
- Thorough understanding of online media business, including platforms, ad products, general pricing strategy, and online ad inventory.
- Music industry relationships – labels, promoters, streaming services, etc.
- Strong relationships at agencies and/or clients across various categories, including entertainment, cellular, apparel, QSR, auto, liquor, beverages, banking, and insurance.
- Proven ability to be self-motivating, work independently, and operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Sold digital media, both direct and programmatic, sponsorships, branded content, editorial, pre-roll, and social across a publisher platform.
- Proven ability to prospect, create new client relationships, and close new accounts
- Demonstrated ability to create and present promotional concepts and branded entertainment opportunities that enhance clients’ marketing efforts.
