We are seeking a candidate with skills to lead bioinformatics and biology data. Reporting to the Head
and VP of Data Architecture and Engineering, you will be part of a functionally integrated team, bring
expertise in managing and developing large-scale life science software and data systems. We are ideally
looking for someone to be part of a world-class scientific data platform to drive forward drug discovery

In this role you will have:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in biology or related area and 6+ years of industry experience in research
    informatics in a life science setting
  • Knowledge and experience of life science research data types (biological and chemical), ‘omics
    data, life science research data platforms, biological ontologies and taxonomies
  • Expertise in partnering and developing business requirements with key stakeholder groups,
    including chemistry, biology, computational chemistry, ML scientists to understand
    requirements and implement a unified and integrated environment of research software
    platforms (commercial and in house), APIs and middleware that supports scientific data analysis
    and decision making across the company
  • Experience deploying, managing, and integrating life science informatics systems (i.e., ELN,
    LIMS, pipeline frameworks) and experience supporting and using reporting and analytics
    solutions (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Vortex)
  • Comfortable with utility programming in Python, R, Jupyter, SQL
  • Adept at working with scientists to understand and translate their requirements into informatics
    solutions that enable their scientific goals
  • Adaptability and eagerness to troubleshoot or adjust to scientific changes as necessary
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to critical decision
  • Big picture thinking with an enthusiasm to drive data science methods forward and work collaboratively to help develop novel therapies for patients


  • Establish a strategy focused on creating a scientific data platform based on principles of
    ontology and taxonomies development to create a suite of interoperable reference ontologies
  • Promote FAIR data principles, adopt the genomic data standards commonly used for
    research and clinical care, including but not limited to NCI Genomic Data Commons,
    gnomAD, ClinVar, COSMIC, VICC, and consortiums in genomic data curation and annotation
  • Provide technical capabilities, strategy, and expertise in all aspects of data engineering and the
    develop data pipelines for external genomic data resources
  • Specify data requirement specifications to build enterprise data warehouse solution for
    molecular data
  • Collaborate with other teams across departments and institutes to build a data ecosystem to leverage high-dimensional genomic data and reveal new scientific insights in cancer research and patient care
  • Evaluate different strategies and solutions for genomic sequence indexing, search, and retrieval
  • Create an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship that enables a scalable software architecture to support all scientific data across the organization
  • Provide hands-on system design, development and execution of software systems and overall systems architecture support for the organization
  • Interact and form close and interactive partnerships with key stakeholder groups, including chemistry, biology, computational chemistry, ML scientists and IT functions
  • Provide mentorship and development of the team and contribute to building a culture that embraces scientific excellence and integrity with a sense of urgency and collaboration
