What You’ll Do 

  • Lead all software responsibilities including setting standards & direction, designing, prototyping, developing, testing, and delivering high quality complex embedded software in a safety critical environment 

  • Mentor, coach, & influence software engineers in their technical growth 

  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers to maintain and enhance the high level of technical competence of the Engineering Staff through interviewing and technical screening 

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Systems Engineers, & Tech Leads to develop the technical road map, derive requirements, and design software components 

  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Scrum Masters, & Product Owners to task engineers and determine timelines, milestones, dependencies & risks 

  • Be a vocal leader for adopting industry best practices and an active contributor to streamlining department processes

Education & Skills You’ll Need 

  • Masters in Computer Science, Aero/Math/Electrical//Mechanical Engineering or a related & 7+ years of experience or a Bachelor’s with 10+ years of applicable experience  

  • 7+ years professional experience with C/C++ 

  • 5+ years experience with RTOS, preferably QNX or Linux/POSIX 

  • Fundamental understanding of electronic control units and embedded systems 

  • Experience with safety critical systems 

  • Experience with multithreaded application development 

  • Experience developing hardware abstraction layers and ability to analyze system designs, determine tradeoffs, and optimize solutions 

  • Ability to compare and contrast approaches for developing for, deploying to, and packaging software for multiple architectures (x86/ARM/MIPS/etc) 

 

Education & Skills Nice To Have 

  • 5+ years experience with safety critical systems (ISO-26262, IEC-61508, SIL3, AUTOSAR, ASPICE) 

  • Experience with multiple low level communication protocols (ethernet, TCP/IP, PCIe, UCP, CAN, CAN-FD, I2C, SPI, etc) 

  • Experience with Automotive Development 

  • Good understanding of firmware security, secure communication, TLS, and encryption/decryption 

  • Experience with clean code standards (TDD, SOLID, Design Patterns)
