What you'll do:
We are seeking a Software Engineer Co-Op to support testing of our autonomous trucks in a virtual testing environment, using a combination of data replay from real-world test data and simulation of real-world test and driving scenarios. In this role, you would be responsible for helping to support our software, systems, and release teams in the execution of virtual testing of Torc’s software components and integrated autonomous driving systems.
Troubleshooting and debugging in the integrated virtual simulation test environment.
Support software and system developers in the usage of the simulation methods.
Help identify appropriate virtual testing technologies and methodologies for a given component or system-level testing effort.
Assists teams in the identification of testing gaps and derive requirements for new or improved test tools, simulation environments and test frameworks.
What you'll need to succeed:
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or engineering equivalent.
Working knowledge of Test-Driven Development Methodology and test framework architectures.
Experience with Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation and testing methodologies is desirable.
Working knowledge of basic probability and linear algebra.
Programming experience in C++ and using Python for data analysis.
Proficiency with programming under Linux and Linux command line function.
Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) preferred.
Preferred experience with Kanban, Scrum or Scaled Agile development preferred.
Automotive or similar test and validation experience preferred.
Candidate is expected to work 40 hours a week during the duration of their Co-op.
Candidate must be a full-time student.
Must be willing to be based locally in Blacksburg, VA for duration of Co-Op.
