Summary

The Senior Project Manager will coordinate our people and processes to ensure Topstep achieves its desired goals and outcomes. This role will lead and coordinate large-scale, cross-departmental initiatives, consisting primarily of company priorities and internal projects. The Senior Project Manager will also be a people manager in leading and fostering Associate Project Managers and Project Managers.

 

The Role, Along With Everything You’d Expect

  • Lead the initial project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling activities.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining key milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss project progress, address concerns, and ensure alignment with expectations.
  • Cultivate strong relationships to foster trust and satisfaction.
  • Oversee the execution of project plans, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress closely, identifying and addressing any deviations or risks promptly.
  • Implement effective project tracking and reporting mechanisms.
  • Manage project scope effectively, assessing change requests and evaluating their impact on schedule, budget, and resource requirements.
  • Facilitate change control processes, documenting approved changes and communicating them to relevant stakeholders.
  • Minimize scope creep and scope-related risks through proactive management and stakeholder engagement
  • Facilitate kickoff meetings, post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions to identify successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Implement recommendations and best practices from lessons learned to enhance project management processes and outcomes.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the project team and across the organization.
  • Manage and oversee the Associate Project Manager and Project Manager.
  • Report up project statuses to the Director of Product Management
  • Onboard and offboard new team members
  • Perform weekly check ins and lead career development for direct reports

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • 4-5 years experience in a project management role
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience in successful communication across an organization
  • Proven ability to manage up
  • Demonstrated experience presenting to senior management and execs
  • Can anticipate blockers and things that will go wrong; have a plan ready; experience unblocking quickly
  • Resource planning and risk mitigation experience
  • Process-oriented, but okay with controlled chaos
  • Experience building and managing a team is a plus
  • Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and time management skills
