At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious mission: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.

More than 1/3 of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet. 10% of greenhouse gas emissions come from food waste and loss.

Through our marketplace app, we connect businesses that have unsold, surplus food, with consumers who can buy and enjoy it at ⅓ of retail value. We are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste. Alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.

We’re growing fast: Our community of 80 million registered users and 200,000 active partners across 17 countries, have together already saved 300 million meals from going to waste - avoiding almost 500,000 tonnes of CO2e!

Too Good To Go was named in FastCompany’s March 2022 list of the World's Most Innovative Companies, and was honoured to be included in TIME’s list of the 100 Most Influential Companies of 2022.

We’re looking for an exceptional Business Development Manager (Acquisition)  to join the Portuguese Key Account Acquisition team at Too Good To Go in Lisbon 🚀

Your role

Your primary responsibility is to acquire new Key Accounts from scratch, which will play an essential role driving the growth of the Portuguese marketplace and saving more food from being wasted. Reporting to the Head of Key Accounts, you will then work closely with the Retention part of the team - that will support the successful onboarding and rollout of new stores, as well as ensuring a long-lasting partnership.

As a Key Account Manager, you are responsible for the following:

  • Own the Sales Cycle: for keychains, from lead generation to roll-out; you will have autonomy in managing your pipeline, but you will be responsible for the end-to-end sales cycle and you have to ensure the commercial targets are met.
  • Mapping & Prospecting: Build and manage a robust segment pipeline; find new business opportunities and map accounts’ organizational hierarchy (account stakeholder matrix) to plan and execute next steps. This aspect will be key to ensure the healthy acquisition pipeline you need to achieve your most important sales KPIs.
  • Pitch & Negotiation: Pitch to new retailers and food chains; create and deliver high-quality and professional presentations to potential new customers, and confidently speak about the business and food waste proposition.
  • Proposals Preparation: Discuss internally with our Marketing team to develop the adequate communication/ marketing plan to close & onboard new Key Accounts. For more complex aspects, you might also have to involve Global/Cluster Commercial teams.
  • Onboarding: Launch pilots with clear success metrics, to prove the business case - follow up through reporting and data, in collaboration with the Retention team that will help you provide an efficient and scalable training to the staff. Set up corrective actions when needed, with the objective of a full rollout.
  • Process and expertise:
  • Create and implement new processes to roll out faster and efficiently in collaboration with the Retention team
  • Develop and share your expertise on the food chains & retail industry with both the Portuguese and Global sales teams
  • Work closely with the Head of KA to set up the Portuguese sales strategy

Requirements

  • Relevant experience as Account Executive (Acquisition) / Key Account Manager (Acquisition), preferable in the food industry with a strong network in food chains and/or retail.
  • Previous sales field experience is a strong plus
  • You know how to handle a project from A to Z. You know how to prioritise your tasks while handling several projects at the same time for maximum impact.
  • You have a great ability to handle challenges, working both independently and as part of a team.
  • You never give up, you have a high-energy, efficient, and result-oriented working style.
  • You are fluent in Portuguese and English.
  • You have very good communication skills (oral and written). You know how to charm partners with your natural and professional attitude.
  • A true passion for sustainability and fighting food waste - you know the urgency of change and action for the planet.

Our values:

  • We Win Together
  • We Raise the Bar
  • We Keep It Simple
  • We Build A Legacy
  • We Care
