We are seeking a freelance Localisation Manager with experience in translating ecommerce websites to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with machine translation tools on important navigation and checkout translations, as well as sub editing key copy to ensure accuracy and consistency across all languages, with a focus first on German.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our product and content offerings.
- Calibrate and optimize machine learning translation tools for automated translations.
- Subedit machine translations to ensure accuracy and consistency across all languages.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure that translated key content adheres to brand guidelines and is optimized for international search rankings.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the translation process for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor rollout of local versions and coordinate with stakeholders across departments (e.g. tech) to ensure a smooth launch and user experience.
Requirements:
- Native-level fluency in German and at least one other of the following languages: French, Italian, and Spanish.
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices and how they apply to international search rankings.
- Experience managing translation projects, including both automated and manual translations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the target languages.
- Familiarity with machine learning translation tools and Translation Management Software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in translation, linguistics, or a related field.
